has anyone installed fork gaiters from bret on a speedmaster. if so did you remove both upper & lower
fork shrouds(covers)? i like the clean look of the america
fork, but also the traditional look of the gaiters.
thanks mark

I removed both of mine, think it looks better and not so heavy. The gaiters are easy to install. Got to love that old school look.

CTSPEED,

It is actually a fairly involved modification. I bought mine from bellacorse.com, and they came with pretty detailed instructions. It does require removing and reinstalling both forks legs. But, if you follow the instructions to a tee, you'll be fine. See picture below.

"Speedmaster" is a title not a name, - and the title is not plural.

When you install them, take one leg off at a time. That way you keep everything in line as it was at the factory. Also heat the gaitors up with a hair dryer and they go on alot easier!Double check ALL your bolts and blue loc tight them all, remember this is your front wheel your working on!!!!!!!Good luck!

Thanks Guys,
A few years back I pulled the front end off my CX500
Had to replace the steering head beairings, so I know
what a job it is. Think I'll order a set. keep them on
the shelf for a rainy day project.

My Speedmaster is the one on Brent's site showing off the gaiters*. It isn't that bad of a job, just a bunch of wrenching. It helps to have a motorcycle/ATV jack. Strap the lower frame to it before you start, otherwise the bike might want to do a back flip.

*note: I just thought of something. I know a lot of you guys like to name your bike Bertha or Betsy or something else, and I'm sure you treat her like the nice young filly she is, but you have to be jealous of my bike since SHE'S A MODEL! Hmm...gaiters....isn't that like black thigh high stockings on a curvaceous lingerie model? Maybe I should name my bike after LeAnn Tweeden of Vida Guerra.

My wifes name is Betsey. Probably best if I dont use the same name for my bike. Always thought there was something
wicked about the name Wanda. No disrespect to anyone whose
wife or girlfriend is named Wanda, but I remember this girl named Wanda when I lived in Northern Maine. Thinking about it still brings a smile to my face and a lump in my...
