a. The buyer should check and view the title to see what name is on it.

b. If the name is the service person and they are not there to sign the bill-of-sale and sign over the title, then the person offering it for sale must have a valid, unexpired power-of-attorney which specifically states the named individual may buy/sell in the name of the service person.

If not, then the person selling it might not actually have permission from the service person to sell it. In which case when the service person gets home, if he/she wants to get fussy they could use the Soldiers and Sailors Relief Act (as amended) to try to get the bike back.

Whomever tries to buy this bike needs to proceed real carefully.
