Stan, the plan right now is actually to make a patio out there with a picnic table. It would come right off the cement walk and come close to the railing so he can walk on a flat surface. They have a random stack of 1'X1' brick pavers, so that will be the start and we'll go from there. Kim's brother has some bricks leftover from his walk way too. The gravel is a good idea tho and might be a good temporary solution to get thru the winter!
