Hi Guys

Just thought I would hold my hand up and admit I have bought a "SCOOTER", the reason behind this is it will go in the garage of our new motorhome. It is a Piaggio Zip 125cc and how cheap to insure £31.50 for the year,in conjunction with the America insurance. It is a 4 stroke and should return around 90mpg. I did think about shoving a trailer on the back to carry my America, but when going to Europe it is expensive enough for the motorhome never mind towing a trailer..

sure it gets 90mpg. but you can only go 15mph. You could drive it all day and never go anywhere. That make what one gallon of gass a year. sounds good to me.
I had a friend that use to say.
"Scooters are like fat women. They are fun to ride but you dont want your friends to find out."

MrsR and I have a cunning plan...in another 10 years or so, when the mortgage is paid off and the kids are old enough to fend for themselves we aim to sell the house and buy a motorhome and a cheap terraced house.

We want to get a ferry to Calais then drive wherever the fancy takes us (with the option to bail out and return to the terraced house if it all goes pear shaped!) I must admit that I hadn't thought about 2 wheeled transport, but I can see where you're coming from...

Ray,

So what's the freakin' problem! It's got TWO WHEELS, don't it?! Thus, It's inherently cool, RIGHT?

No apology is required.

Cheers,
Dwight
(actually come to think of it...in your next-of-the-woods back in the '60s, you could have done your own version of "Quadrophenia" and played ALL the parts....But then you might have had to change the name to..."Schizophrenia"!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Chuckle. My daughter (age 11) is studying "Britain Since the 2nd World War" at school, and keeps asking me if I was a Mod or a Rocker. I keep telling her I was a babe in arms in that era, but I don't think she believes me

I was around in the 70s and was a Rocker, leather jacket Triumph motorcycles, Norton, BSA to name a few. The good old days?

Anyway so I am forgiven, will let you know what I think of it next week sometime, got a week in Spain and then a week in the motorhome only in the UK though.

Good for you, man! If I thought I could get away with it (from my wife, not my riding buddies) I'd get a Vespa with a sidecar!
The latest Cycleworld has a scooter ad with a babe in a pose that made me forget what kind of scooter the ad was for!

I've got a '61 Lambretta Li150 sitting in my garage just waiting for a restoration. With the price of gas being what it is, I may start work on it real soon. Maybe paint it blue and silver to match the Trump.
