OK, so the GT750 did not look good, but the 500 is very nice and bought from a dealer. 12 month ticket 12 months tax Full service 10,000 miles 0n a 2001 Mint condition £1,750 all in Ideal as a winter runaround

Very good bike. These things have been around for years. Very reliable machine and will take a ton of abuse.

Hey cheers Ade, the only problem I have is when the mrs took me up in the car, she got out and said, "What a lovely little bike", I think that might have something to do with the colour which is yellow

Well did about 50 mile on it today, besides keep missing the gear lever and brake lever, a very nice cheap little run around I have been informed to expect about 60mpg so even better. Ade check your email and bell us if you wish

Tru dat. That engine has been around since at least 1980. Started as 400, then 450, and 500. All the bugs should be out by now - not that there were any. I had a 450 Suzie and it was virtually flawless. The only minor problem I had was a minor oil leak (yeah, Jap bikes leak, too)on the shifter shaft and I'm convinced that was my doing. The things I did not like were - Tendancy for valve ping when not using high octane - especially in warm weather. and The goofy Suzuki petcock which was either reserve, on, or prime - NO OFF. The later was the demise of my Suzuki. I left the petcock on prime and let it sit for about a year and a half. No matter what I cleaned or how well I cleaned it, it was never the same. If those petcocks are still the same, my only recommendation would be to see about a Pingle. Oh, one more - Ride the crap out of it. I think you'll find it absolutely delightfull...

Hi Barry Yep, still got the same silly fuel tap on this one, which is an electric one at that. only works when the engine is turned over unless on Prime of course, but you do not run it on prime... I will certainly get my moneys worth out of it thats for sure....

I had an '05 GS500F for about six months this year, primarily to get me back into being comfortable on two wheels. Wonderful machine. Handled great. I would have loved to hold on to it for when I want to ride with a friend who lacks a bike, but needed it's value towards the trade in...

I must admit, cracking little commuter bike, went for ride out tonight around 50 miles, but handles lovely and has a nice sound to it, or is that the illegal can fitted. Went on motorway/freeway and it sounded nice at 70mph and still had plenty left

The OL had a GS400 for a training wheels bike. With careful attention to break in, oil changes and adjustments, the engines were good for about 15 - 17 Kmiles. The electric system made Lucas look like pure genius. There was a fuse that disconnected the battery from the rest of the system, and it had a shunt regulator that depended on the battery to do most of its job. If the fuse blows or the battery goes bad, the dynamo would run wild and fry everything including the special made (= hard to get) $79 headlight.

There's no such thing as a nice yellow bike imho. Get it sprayed... or chrome it!  But seriously, it looks tidy enough for a winter hack.
