I installed Brent's cover and boot last year. I used a properly sized crescent wrench for leverage and rotated the clutch release arm lever forward which created plenty of slack to remove the cable end. I then slowly released pressure on the lever and it came to a rest at about 3-4 o'clock. Installed the boot and used the wrench to move the clutch release arm lever forward enough to re-install the clutch cable end. I did not have to re-adjusst anything after.

btw, my clutch release arm lever rests at 6 o'clock....

clutch release arm lever = that little lever thingie that the clutch cable attaches to on top of the motor
