Several of us have made them. They are very easy to make. Check a picture of the one in my photo gallery.

fyi, i have tried the protac backrest and i wasn't satisfied with the . They're not hopeless though - the mounting is sensible and it might just be a matter of bending and cutting to suit. Someone here bought it from me and may have done better.

The obvious alternative is a corbin seat and backrest which are wonderful but pricey.

It looks to me like these folks do it right. The brackets are heavy, and the rest is adjustable. The bad news - they dont yet offer Speedmaster or America rests, nor will they send one they think might be close. The good news - I'm going to send them a spare seat I have and they said they would probably like to develop rests for more Triumphs. (Let's hope so anyway)

The brackets you see in these photos (click a bike's link) mount under the pillion seat.

A sample installation

It wouldn't hurt our chances at a Triumph line for as many of us here as possible to call them and show there is interest in Triumph rests.

Had a Utopia on another bike I had, worked well, good quality and great adjustability. Hope they consider making one to fit the America.

I have just fitted one to mine. Found a harly backrest in a junk shop for $18. Ground off the bottom half and the made a steel bracket that connects to the rear seat front clip. I had to modify the pillion a bit and the clip. It could still do with some fine tuning but I am happy with the result. I will be posting picks soon.
