Who has the most miles on their bike? I saw Charlie (bad406) this weekend and he has an 03 Speedmaster (still with a stock seat. Ouch!)that has 70k+ miles on it. The odometer shows almost 66K but he said his cable was broken for a while and figures it is realy between 70 and 75K.
I know we have some high milage bikes out there. What do you have?
Learning from my mistakes... again and again.

I have almost 38,000 on a 02. and it will be down for awhile. Thanks to a 93 Ford Escort wagon.
I was so much older then, I am younger than that now (Wrote By Dylan Sung by the BYRDS,)

Nope. Worst thing to happen was a bad igniter box about 6 months ago. Outside of that it's just been tires, oil, chain and sprockets...lather, rinse, repeat. I couldn't be happier with the bike. Just did 700 miles last weekend going up to Prescott/Cottonwood, and the bike was flawless. One of these days I'll do the big bore kit, if those stock pistons ever wear out. At first I was thinking I'd do it at 50,000 miles, but now I'm thinking of waiting until 75,000.

I just rollod over 9K and the bike is exactly 7 months 20 days old. Considering the weather will slow down the riding a bit from Nov thru early February I should be on to make around say 11K by the first annniversary.
There are times when you need to not start riding around here until after 10:00 AM in the morning to avoid the miniscule morning chill.
I will probably ride to work only occasionally as soon as the morning temps start to drop into the 30-40 degree range. Its really tuff living in the banana belt!
Next year the mileage will skyrocket.

Dear Friar,
Kinda like my golf score. I count my strokes and divide by the number of balls I lose! I should join the PGA, but I'd smoke all those guys.
OHH! 46,000 miles on an '02. It's been a slow, hot, humid summer. But riding season is here again.

I am gonna see just how far I can go before I need a rebuild (i'm thinking 120,000 plus). Since I'll have to tear into the lower end anyway, I may opt for the 988cc kit. At 46,000 miles, my bike feels like it's just broke in.

Kevin - Since I used to live down there I can say this - you're being a wimp! If the day starts at 30-40 and goes up from there, there's no snow and no cinders on the road, I'd be riding! And will in such weather this winter. But I don't get to ride to work too much as the judges don't approve of me showing up in leathers and boots, or jeans.
So I only have just over 22K on my '02. Just now replacing chain and sprockets, have done the Freak this past spring, new tires at the begining of the year, replaced the handlebars in the first 6 months. Just put new saddle bags on. Oh, had the ignitor board replaced under warranty the first year. Other than that, she's stock - with really pretty colored pipes! Becky

I just got back last night from a 280 mile rounder with a friend. 47 degrees F the whole way, no mistake about it, it was cold when not dressed for after two hours. But during the course of it, I rolled over 19,000 miles on Blue, have had it for 26 months, as this mornings snow cover attests, it won't be long until she goes to sleep for the winter (except when I wake her up to sneak a ride down the dirt road!)

11,143 on my '05 I picked up in Feb of 06, just had the 12,000 mile service done yesterday in Chattanooga for $198. 1 igniter, flawless otherwise.

Ed,
But July and August is .
Isn't the Aerostich Company in Duluth? They have some excellent looking products on the website. Maybe you could get one of those coverall suits and stuff it full of goosefeathers?

Yupper. These overbearing cold temps down here are a test of a strong man or womans will!
But then again the mornings can be cold from late November thru mid February.
But I like those banana belt mornings when for whatever reason the temps are in the balmy 45 to 50 degree range.
Its a fine justification for living down here eh?
I am fine as long as my face and hands stay warm. I picked up a nice baklava (sp?) yesterday that goes up over the nose and is nice and thick ....should do a good job of keeping the cold wind blast from freezing the face on my 18 mile morning commute if and when I decide to ride instead of taking my truck. The biggest thing is just the extra time it takes to "get ready" in the morning. Putting on the extra layers of clothes et al...warming up the bike as opposed to jumping in the truck and going.
Now for you its pretty much out of the question to ride in winter with the snow and all. Just does not make sense to ride far in extreme cold when you have four wheels to fall back onto.

Personally, I think anyone who puts 5000 miles on their bike in one year is definitely riding their bike. I know a lot of people of don't put half that on their bikes unless you count the miles on the trailer.

Miles are miles. Yet if you think back on all the places you have seen putting those miles on well there you have it. When roads 1000 miles from home get to be as familiar as local roads, when gas stations and restaurants are visited once a year or twice, places way beyond a days ride, heck when the people who work at certain places say Hi to you, that is what mileage is all about. Not in the vain of centural fanaticism, but rather in the context of asphalt surfing and making unknown roads familiar. Seeing the country, stopping to take in the ambiance, and riding 300 miles a day as opposed to 600 miles a day is the ultimate in two-wheelin holiday fun. Dining on Asphalt. What a great idea for a TV show. Well it is just that. We ride get hungry and say I want to eat where no man has ate before. At least any of my friends! One such diner on North US1 right at the Northern border of Florida is Steamboat Lilies. Go in there and you'll see Florida Crackers sitting and talking the breeze. Old men who have stories to tell. Food served up that requires a cart to get your stuffed arse out the door again. You literally step back in time 50 years.
Riding a route less traveled, then having that feeling of deja vu yet, after a bit more riding realizing that you have been this way before. The world collapses into a familiar place a comfortable place as you recall places and people. Riding my friends, is what the odometer documents. Miles are the cost of our freedom and afford us the mental reflections required to get our mind right.
So get on your bikes and ride. To where? how far? who cares just go as far and for as long as you can. Road trips will happen, but round town/county rides are our bread and butter. 3K a year is as enjoyable to those who can't roll away as 10K is a year to those that can scedattle outa state outa town outa old worlds.
Rambling on. That’s me on Vera rolling north to the smoky mountains. YeeHa!

With only 22,800 miles I'm just getting started. What with winter coming on it looks like it might be hard to catch up
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

You took a big trip, didn't you, Reid? Dieing in the rain, and all?
I ride every day, too, but for the last 10 days - waiting on new chain/sprocket set which I picked up tonight. Had to park her 3 months last Summer for a knee injury, but since then I started riding to work every day.
24.5k on since June, 2004 - over 12k on since New Year's this year. And I haven't been out of town since May.
