HI all, hoping someone knowledgable can help me.
My windshield (the bigger one) is cracking...due to impact of something a couple months back. Started out small but now is spreading. Bottom line, it needs to be replaced. Almost died at the notion of $400 to replace it (plus labor). Does anyone know of after market manufacture of a windshield to fit the America? Mine is an 05 that I actually bought in May 06 (leftover demo from dealer). Thanks for any advice.

Clearview makes a direct replacement for the Roadster in 3 different sizes for under $150. It requires the use of the original Roadster hardware as they only provide the acrylic.

You can install in yourself without removing the mount bars from the bike. Just don't over-tighten the screws or you'll crack the new screen. I would recommend using some kind of liquid threadlock applied to the screws (available at all auto parts stores) and just snug the hardware.
It's too simple a procedure to pay someone else to do it.

jj has the best solution for a replacement. The Clearview are fine screens too.
In the meantime, take a really tiny drill bit and drill small holes at the very ends of the cracks. This will stop them from spreading.

A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice. Pat

The Memphis Shades Alley Cat is a good one, and is quick detachable, and can switch out with the Memphis Shades Fats or Slims. Fast Eddie, in the vendor section of this site, is selling them complete for about $187.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Thank all of you! The sites listed are great. I am going with the Clearview because they look exactly like the one I am replacing. My husband thinks he can install based on the pic and your advice....thanks again...

Hello, I am new to the board, and just rode my 2004 a good distance home. The stock windshield is too short for me so I am going to replace it. It was new this year. I found the links helpful too. My stock 18" shield is for sale.
