According to WebBikeWorld.com: "Triumph has added a special edition to the Rocket Family for the upcoming season. The Rocket III Classic Tourer adds a package of must-have touring accessories to the Rocket III Classic at a special price. The accessories include a screen, bags, sissy-bar and pad, are valued at almost $2,000, but the Tourer is priced only $700 more than the standard Rocket III Classic. The Tourer features 3 unique paint schemes and is distinguished from the standard Classic by its silver engine." He doesn't cite his source, however. There is a link for a "special edition" on the Triumph web site but it currently has the same info as the RIII Classic page. http://www.webbikeworld.com/triumph-tiger/2007-triumph-tiger.htm

Can't wait to see it,I hope it has hard bags. I've been waiting to see if Triumph was gonna do a tourer model. Finally a bike I can replace my Valkyrie Tourer with once it wears out. I just couldn't picture myself on one of them Tupperware GoldWings.

Re: hard luggage - I'll believe it when I see it. The mere fact that it's only another $700 seems to indicate that it's actually going to be "Road King" style with existing accessories out of the Triumph catalog: softbags, footboards and roadster windscreen. If Triumph is watching - that's NOT what we want. We want a real touring bike with hard bags, a tour pack and a real fairing/windshield with lowers optional. Right now that's the only thing that would convince me to go into debt again. Otherwise I'll buy a used R3 off ebay for $10-12k and outfit it with $thousands worth of Corbin bits, exactly like this one off TriumphRAT.net:

I could not agree more. Room in the bags for a full face helmet. That's all I want and I'll be happy. And I'm already a pretty happy guy
Women and cats will do as they please. Men and dogs should just get used to that fact and relax

The gal at my dealer that went to the dealer conference was telling me that they did announce a full bagger Rocket III tourer. It'll be called the Rocket II CX. Suppose to be out for the 2008 model year.

Friar... I would have that R3 in a second! That is a drop dead gorgeous bike.

Over on Cycle World, there's this article on the "Rocket III Classic Tourer". It's just an accesorized Rocket III. No hard bags and no fairing, just a windshield. So 2007 looks to be a bit of a disappointment. A redesigned Tiger and restyled America and Speedmaster is about all they've done.

Yeah, that's about what I predicted. I guess the only good part about that is the price break on all those accessories. Fugly saddlebags, though. I'd rather pay more for the Corbin stuff.

Especially since they kept the silver engine on the tourer instead of giving it the slimmer looking black engine.

As long as they keep the two pipes on one side, they will always have Fugly saddlebags. The one on the left looks like it shrunk!! They need to come out with a twin-low pipe like ours for a touring moddle to leave room for bags that actually hold something. But then again, we all know how much Triumph saddle bags suck...

the triumph bags for the rocket are acutally pretty big. they do fit a ton of stuff. bit pricey tho. jardin makes an exhaist where it exits into 2 pipes one on each side

Not just overall size, but it being proportional is important too. hat aftermarket pipe setup, but Triumph will never make bags to accomodate the aftermarket pipes...
