Not motorcycle related in any way, please forgive me: I noticed on the thread about music people talking about iPods; I just bought one, just getting used to it. My question is this: my girlfriend has been enjoying MY iPod, I've decided to get her one; anyway, I know these things are protected against sharing music--she doesn't own a pc, will I have to download the software that comes with her iPod onto my laptop in order to get tunes into HER iPod, I'm assuming I can't use the iTunes installed with MY iPod. Help anyone? I would have went to some Apple forum to ask this, but I really don't go to any other sites other than this one......thanks in advance!!

you should be able to transfer music from your PC directly to her ipod. you might get a prompt which asks you if you want the "other" ipod to be the primary ipod...
otherwise just plug in and transfer.

If the songs are saved on your computer...just plug hers in and have at it. If they're songs you've downloaded from iTunes, they are DRM protected, which means you can only burn so many CDs and copy them to so many iPods before the songs become basically unusable. If this is the case, go here where you can download an application to strip the DRM code from the downloaded song. It's good practice to do a DRM strip on any song as soon as you download it.

Ok, so will I have to sorta 'assign' into iTunes that there is another iPod attached or something? Or as Litzerski said, just plug and start downloading? Sorry, I'm not very pc saavy......

Nothing to it lee, just plug it in and use the Itunes library. You can load songs from your library onto any iPod connected, but only one at a time. I have put lots of tunes on other iPods with no problems.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

If you want to really use your ipod, get AnapodExplorer and never touch itunes. http://www.redchairsoftware.com/anapod/ With anapod, you can drag and drop all in windows. NO B.S. Also you can move tunes from ipod to pc. There are a lot of other reason too. THIS IS THE MOST FRIENDLY WAY TO USE YOUR IPOD!
