Even though we are into October, hopefully most of us are still riding and don't even think about what is in the CD player in the car, but you still may have a music CD in your computer, or home stereo. Mert's thread got me thinking more about music too. So, here is the question, what is in your CD player right now?

In the car:
D.R.I. - Dirty Rotten LP
Ramones - Subterranean Jungle
Love and Rockets - Love and Rockets
The Clergy - Ruami

Unless you count the CD in my computer, and that was to download it onto my iPod.

That's the Finn Brothers - Everyone is here.

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

Like G, I have my stuff on an iPod - no cd player in the car yet.

As for my iPod, there isn't room here to list what I have.
Name a genre and I probably have it (including Mash Up ... yeah, that's what I thought!!).

I emptied the car player yesterday - What's in my CD player? Some really odd sjit, on many ocassions

"The Antonio Carlos Jobim Songbook" (Damn I wish I could write like him)

Mighty Sam McClain - "One More Bridge To Cross" Kind of like Les McCann & Eddie Harris go to funk church in the French Quarter. Good stuff.

(Long Tall) Marcia Ball, Angela Strehli, Lou Ann Barton - "Dreams Come True" The queens of Texas unite, with Dr. John producing. A near masterpiece.

Santana "Supernatural" The cut 'Corazon Espinado' may be nearly worn off the disc by now - Old School Carlos, playing from the heart, with a touch of that screaming guitar pain perhaps from what happened in his childhood mixed in? J'know that Carlos can't read charts? Doesn't seem to have hurt him any though.

Michael McDonald's second Motown album - a little over produced, but the boy got some pipes on him. The track "Tuesday Heartbreak" phew - Go Mikey.

My wife's copy of John Mayer's new one "Continuum" A lot of his stuff is not my cup of tea, but the kid is an IMMENSE talent. Thanks to some ebay scalper tickets, we saw him from 5th row center at the Tweeter Center for my wife's birthday, and on a lot of his cuts, when it sounds like 2 or 3 guitars, it's all Mayer. He's the real deal, not something burped out by a producer.

I hate to sound like a Luddite (really, Siggy, and which part of Luddia do you come from?) but I don't have a CD player in my car, just a radio. I do, however, have my XM MyFi hooked up to broadcast on 88.5 FM, so I listen to a mix of everything excluding Country, Classical, and Oprah & Friends (I mean, honestly... who on earth thought THAT would be a good idea? 24/7 Oprah and her touch-feely hangers-on? Urggh!!)

Siggy

If life wasn't so pointless and absurd, I would take it more seriously.

At home, when I'm on the computer, I usually listed to Chronix Radio (www.chronixradio.com) via iTunes. At work, which won't let us use iTunes and blocks Chronix Radio, I listed to my own MP3s. Most common bands I usually listen too: Tool, Killswitch Engage, Metallica, Distrubed, etc.

Sometimes I'll get in a techno/electronic mood and will listen to Paul Oakenfold, Crystal Method, John Digweed, etc. Then, there are those odd days when I'll listen to Eminem or Dr.Dre.

OK I hear everyone talk about how good John Mayer is, but how come NONE of the songs you hear from him feature the guitar at all? Hardly even a solo? If he's so good, show it!!

OK end rant

In my car I've been flipping around between my mix of Led Zeppelin (lots of no-the-usual tunes), Ben Harper's new one, and Muddy Waters- Hard Again.

I'll check that out. I'm sure live is good, and I DO like his new tune, but still I just don't make the connection to an ax-man when I hear him, ya know? You would think he and his producers would play it up. Even my friend who studied guitar at Berkley thinks he's great, and this was back in his whiney crooner album... I was like WTF?

They are definitely on my "to see" list. I'd love to catch one of those NYC shows, but timing just hasn't worked out. I haven't listened to their new album, "Lost Crowes", hoping some loved one will give it to me as a Christmas Gift.

What's mainly in my CD collection is Jazz from Herb Albert to Ben Webster and Brian Culbertson to Grover Washington Jr.( in other words the old and the new jazz ) Do have a Lot of R&B ( the classic stuff and not the kiddie crap ), Rock ( new and old ), and classical music. Just love music, except rap and the head banger rock, you know the kiddie crap!
