Please make note of the following changes effective October 1, 2006:

A charge of exceeding the speed limit by 30 mph or more will require a
mandatory hearing. The individual will not be permitted to elect
traffic school.

A new statute of 316.1893(5) Enhanced Penalty Zones is being created in
order to accommodate the assessment of the additional $50.00 when cited
for unlawful speed in specifically marked zones.

A new statute of 316.189(5) F.S. Enhanced Penalty Zone was created
during the 2006 legislative session to accommodate the issuance of
citations in designated enhanced penalty zone s in Brevard, Duval, and
Palm Beach Counties as a pilot program in an effort to reduce speeding
related crashes on state roads. According to Chris Cairnes at the
Department of Transportation (D.O. T.), the enhanced penalty zone in
Brevard County has been identified as I-95 from S.R. 528 north to the
Brevard/Volusia County line. Signs have been ordered by D.O.T. from one
vendor to ensure that all three counties post the same official signs.
This statute can only be used in designated enhanced penalty zones after
the signs are in place.
