If everyone is ok with it lets set the date for Sun Oct 22
Same plan Members, friends, strangers meet at the top of
Mount Greylock in Western Mass. at say 11 or 12. If the restaurant at the summit is open we can have lunch there. If not we can all ride down into North Adams to find some place to eat. I guess you could call this The Unofficial One Day New England Rally. If anyone from CT or NY want to meet at Toymakers for breakfast before the ride north let me know.
Mark
*****Edit: If Sun October 8th is a better date let me know.

I'm up for both the breakfast and ride, but we might need some research on the fine points before we commit to that late of a date: Quoted from - http://www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/western/mgry.htm"Auto roads to the summit of Mt. Greylock are open from mid-May through mid-October, 24 hours a day. The roads remain open beyond mid-October during the hunting season, and as long as weather permits safe driving conditions (please call ahead)." "Bascom Lodge is open daily from mid-May to mid-October, 7am-8pm. Breakfast, dinner and overnight accommodations require advance reservations; contact the lodge at (413) 743-1591." (413) 499-4262 Visitors Center (413) 499-4263 Administration Not to complicate matters, but I'm not clear if the 22nd will fall on a road to the summit closed date, if the hunting season should happen to begin later than the 22nd.

Last time I was at the summit of Greylock was in Nov.
Rode my BMW RT up
They only close the road if snow gets to deep.
That shouldnt be a problem in Oct.
I had lunch at the lodge that day also.
I dont have a problem with changing the date to Oct/8
My sons stag is on Sat/7, but I should be able to brag my a** out of bed if that date is better for most.
Let the people chose.

Pat, After Oct 1 I carry a bag of hex head sheet metal screws, and a nut driver. That way I can stud my tires if it stats to snow while I'm out for a ride mark

Wow where did my post go? I'm up for the 22nd as long as the conditions are OK. If it's too chilly maybe I will trailer. Alice

Is Oct 8 Labor day weekend? I'm actually supposed to be in Worcester that weekend so it would work better for me, but otherwise I would try for the 22nd as long as I won't freeze my cajones off.

Thanks Matt,
You just made me laugh outloud.
I think I spent more time admiring the trailer,
than I did making fun of it.
Hey Benny,
I'm no expert, but I think Labor Day is in early Sept.
It was great seeing you guys again,
Maybe we'll see ya'll at Greylock,

My buddy Chuck is a year 'round New England rider. If you ever were out in 5 below weather with a half a foot of snow on the roads and saw a furry beast on an old BMW with sidecar, odds are pretty good that was Chuck you saw.
Anyway, the CT state snow plow crews still talk about the time 25 years ago when the state plow truck was stuck on Smith Hill, (US route 44 in Salibury) and Chucky rolled by them up the hill on his vintage 196? BMW and sidecar lifted in the air, with old inner tubes sections tied to the drive tire for traction. True story.
Go Chucky go!

Let's set a firm date and meeting time.

Looks like the 8th is no good for everyone, why don't we go with the 22 or 23 rd. as originally planned.

I'm bringing my 81 year old mother on the pillion perch, and she's so friggin' tough she's wearing only a gore-tex bikini, so no more b****in' about the cold.

I'm thinking a John Deere lawn mower Winter enclosure would go good stitched to the windshield. That way my Hot Pockets won't blanche in the microwave.
If I'm not mistaken, here is an early photo of unc preparing to trailer to the next rally?

dill,
No hunting here in CT on Sunday. Sorry
All others,
Lets stick with 10/29. If the weather holds, and you can make it great.
If not we can always plan on another ride next spring.

I know its hard to find a date when every one can ride, and 10/29 is late in the year. Early Oct was out for me this year. The ride, and view from the top of greylock are great If the weather dosent work out for that long a ride breakfast at Toymakers is an option. With a shorter loop around NW CT and Mass. I'm always up for a ride on thu or fri(my days off)s**ks working on weekends Mark
