I was surprised to see that Triumph was a no-show at the Cycle World Cycle show last weekend in Chicago. I was curious as to what the Triumph Reps would (or would not) say about the rumors of a 1500 or 1600cc twin!?

I thought it was well known that they were not going to be at the show. They expect to be there next year from what I hear.

Two years now they decided to put their money elsewhere. A mistake I think.

I'm more shocked that they pulled out of the Yorkfest Show'n'Shine in York, MT. The bastidges! Next thing you know they'll pull out of Evel Knievel Days in Butte or the Beartooth Rendezvous in Red Lodge.

I am not surprised. If I had a business that sold everything I made, why spend dollars on what is basically an advertising venue (bike shows)?

The show was/is kind of lame.

Triumph was not at the Edmonton MotorCycle show either, luckily Echo Cycle (our local dealership) was and had an excellent showing. Showed off a turbo they have built for SM's.

Wonder if the Mrs will let me get one for my TBA

We did have a couple of Triumph reps there but no word on a new cruiser

They can't sell anymore bikes because they can't build any more bikes. Once they are slapped together at a zillion a day and shipped from Thailand their marketing will step up.

I agree, not going is simply wrong. Especially Cycle World. Cycle World is the group that pushed for the 675 and Sprint to be on the top 10 list. If you don't want to sell, thats fine but at least show up and show off.

I think they all sell all they build. They sell them all to dealers. There are several 05 models still around on cycletrader.

They were not at the NYC show either, so I didn't go, spent the time wreching instead. I did hear they blew off NYC due to the expense of having Javits center employees park their trucks & move their equipment. Ya know good ,ol NYC corruption.

Don't worry, being in the trucking industry for 13 years, I know first hand there is plenty of that going on in EVERY city that has concerts/conventions. You can actually get a FINE as an exhibiter if you are caught carrying ANYTHING inside that didn't get Teamster approval.

Approval to be carried in from the outside that is, not approval to be in the show.....thought I might add clarity to that, sorry.

Ya know guys...I TOO used to think that it was pretty dumb of Mr.Bloor's operatives to decide to not attend the largest traveling motorcycle exhibit found on this continent....BUT NOW I've come to realize what a "noble decision" by them IT IS!!!

You see....Triumph is in the vanguard of companies that have decided..."enough is enough" of this BLATANT OVER-COMMERCIALIZATION of things!!!

I mean....JUST LOOK at what's happened to VALENTINE'S DAY TODAY....to say nothing of CHRISTMAS!!!

Now, if only Harley-Davidson, Yamaha, Honda, Ducati, Suzuki, Victory, Moto-Guzzi, Vespa, Ural(Yes..even URAL), et al, would JUST follow suit, we could END this "downward slide of tradition", and get back to THE BASICS!

In other words....NO Cycle World M/C show AT ALL!!!

Ya know...back in the "olden days", we used to drive/ride to all the different manufacturer's showrooms to see their machines! I say it's HIGH TIME we "STOP THE MADNESS"!

BRAVO Triumph, BRAVO!!!

Cheers,
Dwight
(now...if you'll all excuse me I'm off to the Hallmark shop to get a friggin' Valentine's card and a box o' chocolates for the wife.....DO YA SEE what it's come too, NOW???!!!)

I was hoping a local dealer would have been there at least similar to the local HD dealers but I guess the cost might of been too prohibitive to a small time guy.
