The snow has arrived in the UK, with temps plunging to -6C, luckily for me I'm surrounded by hills so I do not see much of the snow usually

Weather report for today

Whats the riding conditions like Gina?

I'm glad I have the penines round us, that stops a lot of it coming our way. If we do get it, its usually quite bad

LONDON HAS SNOW??!!!
Oh no, the centre of the Universe has bad weather - the whole world will grind to a halt.
The balance of all that is good will shift - nothing of any good will come of this, mark my words.

99% of drivers in this country are complete morons at the very sight of snow clouds.
A mate of mine was telling me yesterday that schools were closing by him - BEFORE any snow had arrived!!! WTF????
Our school didn't even close when we had 6" of snow on the ground!!

The roads are clear, it's easier than driving in rain - GET ON WITH IT BRITAIN you whinging bunch of drips!!!!!

Speak your mind why don't you....?

London does seem to overreact to absolutely everything though.

Before I left for work last night, it said it would start snowing here around midnight - exactly when I finished work... All the way back, was askeing if it was snowing in Bristol. The bloke at Swindon had heard it was snowing in Swansea....I didn't care about Swansea. Just didn't want my first experience of snow riding at gone midnight...

I started at 2 am....

And it's mostly gone. I don't know whether it's due to Bristol being sat in the bottom of a round valley, but it's nowhere near as bad as they were saying on the local news last night...

So I will be using the bike for work tonight... just taking it easy on the way home - it's supposed to freeze tonight...

Currently still snowing - perhaps a little heavier but not sticking.
Just taken the pick-up for repair to my mates and had it sideways several times on the industrial estate where his garage is -
I'm not going to comment if I was doing it deliberately or not

BTW, I'm hurt by your suggestion I was deliberately enjoying myself doing donuts in the pick-up

Front wheel drive? You can keep it, give me rear wheel drive any day

I got a blurb on the TV that Buffalo, New York was to receive 8' of "Lake Effect" snow this week . I'd be tempted to move the town or the lake or myself. At least here the heavy snow tends to stay in the high country where it belongs and people don't live.

Buffalo must be west of Canna, Caina, Kana, Canan, the place where Dinqua lives.

Aye, when i was a nipper i remember when we would walk five miles up hill to school each day in twelve inches of snow and then walk five miles home uphill in 15 inches of snow, had holes in my shoes and socks, and would get a thick ear from me old man if i complained.

Kids today...got it made lad.

Geeeeze, Ray – The Brits – Those with the stiff upper lip, we can handle anything from the Blitzkrieg and subway bombings to even Elton John are overcome with a bit of snow. We’ve had that weather here for over a fortnight and no-one here in the colonies is whinning as though they were kicked in the goolies. Have you all gone bleedin’ barmy? You’re behavin’ like a bunch of Nancy Boys.

Have a tea, pick yourselves up off your sorry arses and get to work.

Perfectly alright here, we had a light dusting, too cold to go out though -3c on the bike. Took the dog on promenade does that count

No, not this time. Strictly business as usual, all the main roads were clear and traffic was probably a bit heavier than usual, to compensate for the disruption to train services out of town.
I gave a lift to a little old lady walking down the hill in her wellies (wasn't on the bike LOL, in the Landy!), 'cos the pavements were dead slippy, so my good deed is done for the year. Got it out of the way in Feb this year.. hurrah!

I'll find out how bad that is in a bit... I don't want to go to work today... it's been sunny all afternoon so I've been out and about on the bike...

Talking about an old 110 gauge shotgun, I believe...!

My Landy is an M reg 110 station wagon 2.5 Tdi, bought end of last year. Pretty much stock apart from a roof rack and a ladder I got off Ebay but yet to fit.I need a snorkel for it, since where it's going (SW Ireland), the low point of the road is under water at very high spring tides! Pretty cool truck, but the Speedy is warmer!

Grzegorz...you have my full respect (even if it does get colder in Poland) I'm only riding in rain today.

Bloody wimps, the lot of yer, last year I rode back from Strömsund after the bike was serviced in -10C with snow all the way back,a gentle ride of about 60 miles,OK,I had to slide a little but still got back in one piece. Why does England go to pieces over a little snow when in the snowbowned countrys we carry on as nothing has happened,it's been snowing here for about a week and a half now, can't wait till I see tarmac again, cabin fever, whats that

Steve

2 reasons -

a) we are not used to riding/driving in snow and don't get enough practise to get good at it

b) Cos no matter what the weather, be it rain, snow or a heat wave, it's a national past-time to moan about it!
