I don't know how it would be an interesting race, the freakin VTX is way heavier. I ride a Bonneville, no way those cruzerlozers would keep up with me, even stock I'd think...especially in twisties.

In a straight line, our bikes wouldn't touch a VTX 1800, big bore or not. The 1300 though can be taken because of it's 759 lb weight, and it's other numbers...bone stock 60.02 hp @ 5000 rpm and peak torque of 74.50 ft/lbs @ 3000 rpm.
It's easy enough to tell them apart. The 1800 has a hydraulic clutch, the 1300 doesn't. So when you look at the top of the handlebars, the 1800 will have reservoirs on both sides, while the 1300 just has the brake reservoir on the right like our bikes.
I used to ride with a group of Honda VTXs, and took numerous trips with them. On long straight stretches of road, the 1800s can cruise along easily at 90-95 mph, and top speed is somewhere around 140. Get in the twisties though, and few could keep up. It's one of the reasons I quit riding with them. There was just too big of a difference between our bikes. They would even go out of their way sometimes to avoid twisty roads.

I meant I could smoke a 1300, not an 1800. You're right those are pretty quick. They'd better be, the motor in my car is only bigger by 100cc's.

Man. Talk about getting the cart before the horse. Riding is all about asphalt carving.

OK cool. I think mine are a tad bit longer, special order But I bet they would sound the same. I think Greg and I have the same length pipes, or maybe it was Wojo... Forget who, but it's obvious great minds think a like.

Thanks for resurrecting this thread Kenny as I have an update!
I FINALLY got 500 on her so I did a valve job (5 shims), chain adjust, spark plugs, oil change and this time, I changed the cam cover gasket. Took her out for a shake down and after warming her up good, I just HAD to nail her for the first time after the BB. Without a dyno (it's coming), I am VERY happy. I am just glad I have a backrest as the power coming on at around 4500 - 5000 is HOLY CRAP!
Looks like I have to do a little carb adjusting though. My current setup has a bit of a power dip (aka, flat spot) around 4800 - 5000rpm. I may try shimming the TBS needles or a fatter main but I will wait for tomorrow's run to figure it out. I've only got 10 miles on the maintenance work. I HATE working.
Bonne, Mine had the same flat spot--it showed up on the dyno- the Air/Fuel ratio showed it went rich from 4500rpm to 6000rpm & then went back 13-1. I fixed this by drilling the slides with a 7/64 bit.it took the flat spot out. You might try this.It raises the vacumn. Mine is pulling 24lbs.The bike is making 63.46HP & it still needs one more shim to put it right. The Nology ignition really smoothed out the curve-it's not choppy & all over the place like it was with the stock stuff. Glad to see ya'll are having fun!Your bike sounds like you rolling..hehe! Kenny

Yeah, I did the slide hole drill out a couple of years ago. Does wonders for throttle response! Also have the Nology coils and premium wires. Might do the Nology wires in the near future.
Going to set up a dyno appointment this week (forgot last week). Hope to get it done this Saturday and see what we have.

Benny, it is Greg (Englishyank). Nice pipes. I noticed the difference in Phil's exhaust tone and mentioned it to him on the way to Moe and Lynn's. He probably didn't hear me over his grin...
Phil, the bike next to me was a 1300.
Let us all know the dyno results. I am right behind you on my project! I promise plenty of pictures:p

Didja steal Ryan's login or are you in Daytona??
The place I found locally that honors the free dyno? It's defunct, phones's diconnected...
The next nearest is in Miami. I am calling them tomorrow.
