I have always wanted a digital caliper but I could not justify the $$$ for a good one. Even the plastic ones can be a bit pricey. Last weekend I happened to be in an Autozone auto parts store and they had one on a rack in the front aisle for $20... a Titan #23175. While it ain't a Starrett, it does what I need it to do and it's stainless steel.
They don't list it on their website, but here's a link to show what it is....
Titan SS digital caliper

They also have a decent bearing/seal driver set for $50 - good for installing wheel bearings and seals instead of using punches, drifts or blocks of wood...

That seems like a bargain. I wonder if that company sells a meteric version. I'd rather have meteric if it's the same price.

I just bought a meteric 25mm micrometer and it's awesome. I used it to measure my shims when I adjusted my valves. My old standard Micrometer had been dropped a couple of times and I didn't trust the readings and the conversion rounding. I hate fractions anyway.

Good deal Grump. Thanks for sharing that. I have an old Vernier type, and the d*mned lines & numbers keep getting smaller.

A while back I got a set from Costco, had a vernier style calliper, and mic, and a small flat ruler (scale). Dunno about the quality, but for the amount of work I do, it is perfect! I ca read the lines just fine Also came in a cool wood case.

Thanks for the heads up.
I went out there yesterday & they had one, but I wanted two.
Their new store manager said he'd pick another one up this morning.
He also put the one they had back for me so I can pick up both today.

My boy & I each have dial calipers that my dad bought us.
The extra is for the boy.
Guess it's gonna be a generational thing.
If Dad was still with us, I'da bought three.

Ok, got 'em.
Took one out & battery was dead.
Used the supplied spare batt & all is well.
Think the other one's gonna be the same way.
