I need to wear prescription glasses. I am looking for a new open face helmet.. and am wondering if anyone here know of goggles that will fit over my glasses?

I would say... goggles are for wusses. But you need to protect you glasses.

When I wear goggles I have some safety glasses from the diy store. I normally ride in shades so there are just like a clear version. And have the added bonus of actually being proective - unlike the shades. And are cheaper than buying proper biking goggles....
You can get them that fit over prescription glasses, but I'm not sure that that option would be comfy in a helmet. But for a couple of dollars might be worth a try.

OR get an open face with a visor.....

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

You can get goggles with prescription lenses. One of the problems with goggles big enough to fit over glasses is that they tend to block side vision enough that backing into a parking spot is a real problem.

I have had a pair of over prescription "Climax 510" goggles from British Cycles for 4 years. They work great for me; visibility wise, no distortion, don't waffle in the wind (even at speeds >55 mph), keep assorted road stuff out of my eyes. On rare occassion, they fogged a bit riding in heavy rain, but I found that if you tilt them for air circulation and go faster, it clears right up .

What GB says can certainly be true, but I haven't noticed that side vision problem with these. I guess the best is try a pair on first, though I on-line ordered.

.......wusses?

Good Luck,

JH

A good pair of goggles is indispensable for those of us who wear prescription glasses.

I use a model variation called the "commander" from "Gaurd Dogs Aggressive Eyewear" You can order easy to change out lenses in different shades from clear to variations of dark.

They dont fog up in cold weather and I dont have any problem with side vision with mine. Guard dogs also makes many of their products with your prescription.

Goggles look kinda retro and cool with British Iron anyway.

I am not a helmet proponent so the goggles are an absolute necessity in the winter.

I sprung for a pair of wind proof photochromic brown prescription glasses here at RX Safety They seem to get quite a bit darker than other photochromic lenses I've tried over the years, yet they go back to fully clear at night.

Excuse my Off Topic, but for regular eyeglasses, I've been buying them here, and saving a ton of money.

i use bobster goggles. they have changed styles since i bought but i believe the principle is the same. they come with 3 different color lenses, or what i did. take them to your local vision place and order rx lenses for them. i got the kind that change shade in the light. excellent decision. would do it again if necessary.

I got a pair of Garney Boulevards from British Cycles. For $65, a great value. Comes with 3 lenses, prescription insert, sunglass type earpieces, and a headband; here's a pic. I think it cost me about $40 for the lens inserts and I pretty much stick to the headband these days...

Had the same problem, most Goggles that fit over my glasses are way too large. After trying out several styles, got 4 pairs of "Bubble Goggles" two clear, and two smoke. Mfg by Paulson less than $10 ea with shipping. Just do a Google for them. Work great, small and light weight. But need to be replaced when they become too scratched up, (about one year).

I use a pair of Aviator T2's. A bit spendy but they fit well, keep the wind out, and are very comfortable. Also get clear lenses and use a pair of good sunglasses with them. That will give you better sun blocking then just tinted lenses and then you can use the goggles at night too.

Fillo,

My father was at the Walmart in North Calgary and mentioned to the lady working in the Rx shop there he needed something to put over his current glasses. She immediately found a pair for him. Apparently the work great and are specifically designed for biking. I have yet to see them. I would assume a Walmart here in Edmonton will have the same.
