While cleaning the bike today, I found a wire cable retainer hanging down under the front of the tank just behind the horn. It has the kick stand cut-off switch running trough one end along with another electrical plug connector. With it hanging down, I am afraid it is going to contact a hot oil cooler line and short out! Does any one know where this wire retainer mounts on my speedmaster? I looked on Bike bandit and the retainer looks like part 37 on the electrical diagram. Here: bike bandit

That retainer mounts to the top right bolt of the oil cooler it is the last thing bolted in that space (inother words it is closest to the bolt head itself...like a washer) It belongs just behind the horn as you described...except it should be fastened securly...check if the bolt is loose or if the retainer broke off and a peice is still there

Thanks, That makes sense. The Dealer had to replace my oil cooler soon after I purchased the bike. Had a leak in it. I guess they did not reconnet the retainer.
