08 Victory Vision
Well, looks like Victory is growing up. The '08 vision looks like a cross between a BMW and Goldwing with a little Ultra in the DNA. Might be a little too over the top for my tastes.

Wow is that ugly. Maybe it's just the gray on gray, but wow is that not pretty.

They shouldn't try to keep the exposed engine and classic tank on there with that much body work. Looks like a kingpin rear ended one of those big honda scooters and kept going.

Looks like Victory hired the guy who designed the 1958 Buick. Where are the tail fins?

No, the gray is good-camo would ve better-can you imagine this thing in Candy Apple red??

This is just plain wretched excess but most of their line leans in that direction-like some pro football wide receivers in North Texas who just can't get enough attention.

Come to think of it Redbike, if you look at the front of that fairing, and looking from the bottom of the winshield down to that circular little headlight...it DOES kind'a spell out the letters...T and O, DOESN'T IT?!

Cheers,

I agree it looks like a big scooter.
I have seen some of the bigger scooters riding with bikes around here lately.

I think it's the large wheel wheel in the fairing. It distorts the rest of the bike's sense of scale. And makes the fork/front tire seem small. Then since you can't see the tank, bars, or front frame, it looks like a step through.

All in all not something I would run out and buy.

I agree it's kinda ugly but I like a company breaking the mold and doing something different...especially Victory.

If I some spare cash I would buy one just to get the looks

Ok, article says they spent 6 years developing this.. with 20 design sketches. If this was the best, what did those that didn't make it look like?

Just my 2 cents

Does anybody else remember Victory's prototype "Bike-Of-The-Future" that was making the rounds on the CW Int'l M/C Show last year?

Well...at the time, I thought THAT machine looked like an OWL.(remember it's "beak-like" headlight?)

This latest design of Victory's just HAD to be styled by the very same Audubon Society member, wouldn't ya say?! I mean...does this thing resemble "Henry Chicken Hawk"(you remember!..the little dude always tryin' to eat Foghorn Leghorn in all those old WB cartoons)....or is it just ME???!!!

...then you have to get one of these to go with it.

I was just getting ready to post a picture of this monstrosity, when I saw this thread. If it does nothing else, it gets your attention.

No, not by a long shot. But it has character and function and it will pull pull a train or beat a racer. Quite frankly, I've always said the R3 was an ugly SOB. But, would I own one? I'd love to! Would I own one of those Victory Retro French Mime/Clown Cycles? Nah - I'm not sure I'd even ride with someone that owned one.

I completely agree! Not because I am a such a loyal Triumph fan but because that thing is rediculous. I am not loyal enough to any brand to justify buying an ugly bike but the R3 is ok. Not a great looking bike but the ride makes up for it. I do not care how this thing rides it is incredibly funked up looking. I normally value function over form but come on!!!!!

What a bunch of judgmental gits. It's not that bad. You may not like it but it is a cohesive and valid design. With the upsurge in the focus on good design in general in society, it figures that the cruiser crowd would lag behind. Or maybe it's just this crowd?

Ya b!tch when something is designed with an emphasis on function over form (Rocket III) and ya b!tch when every inch of a bike is designed on purpose to a certain aesthetic (the Victory).

Well, you might say we are a bunch of traditionalists to say the least!
I reserve ultimate judgement until I see it in person. I happen to think the new Gold Wing is attractive, but most long-time GW fans aren't real enthusiastic. My neighbor calls it a tupperwear cruiser (too much plastic). The Cruiser tour segment is also pretty conservative. I'm curious to how well it sells. Based on what I've read, and test rides on new Victory bikes, it will probably be head & shoulders better than the Electra Glide in fit/function. In the last grand tour shoot-out in Cycle World, the article stated they were more wet during a rainstorm in the first 10 minutes on the Ultra, than the first 10 hours on either the GW or the BMW LT.

Yes, you wouldn't expect owners of "Modern Classics" resembling bikes from the sixties to lean towards something so far out as this bike. I think it looks much nicer without the top luggage piece. Again, I applaud Victory for doing something out-of-the box (like Buell). That's why I own a Triumph...different. Everytime I see a "new" kawasaki, honda, suzuki, korean cruisers...I have to strain to see the difference from the previous 15 years models.

The R3 is a bike that you would have to get used to looking at, but at least it is all function. That victory looks more like Ness on a bad acid trip.

If they piled half dozen spare tires on it, it would look like the 2CV double Sahara. That was a weird car with front and rear engines giving it 4 wheel drive. They had removable pins in the shift linkage so you could disengage an engine and keep driving when (not if) it broke down.
