Hi!
I´m Mat from Berlin / Germany and have my America fo 2 months now. To get a better and louder sound I´d like to get me the original Triumph short "sport pipes". They are expensive but the only ones I can find in Germany. A ll the offers from GB, US or Australia are much more expensive.
Anyway - I´d like to know if anyone has some more informations about this like
-How do they sound? Loud? Too loud to use them at all?
-Will I have to change something with the carb / will they cause any other changements to do?
-How about the power then?
.....

Have you looked at the pipes from RAASK in Sweden? Might be an alternative, i am sure that they would be a cheaper alternative and they are made for our bikes.

link:

Raask´s homsite

E-mail Sivert Raask and you will get a price from him including the shipping cost.

Hei and Tack! :-)
But they don´t look good - just for me. I like them possibly shorter and with slash cut.
But anyway - tks. for the RAASK - adress.

Are you talking about the Triumph Off-Road shorties like these:

They are not real loud but you can hear them. They can also be made louder by drilling out the baffle plates.

Nothing extra (jets) had to be done with these on.

I run them:

They're a lot louder than the standard pipes, but not excessively loud. I was out last night with a mate on a 4 cylider Suzuki - he has a race pipe and I would say that the volume was about the same, but mine sounded nicer

I wouldn't want to go any louder, but I like these.

My bike is standard (except the AI is removed), and I had to adjust the mixture screw on the carburettors to stop popping on decelleration. (Standard setting was 2 turns out, now 3 turns out).

They have a raspy tone, not deep. Moderately loud, but not obnoxious. I've never been able to stop the popping. With AI removed and screws out to 3 1/2...still get some popping on decelaration, mainly on the left cylinder. Very annoying (to me anyway). I'm interested in the sound of the Dunstall replicas. They're about the same length and I've always like a reverse cone style muffler. They're available on eBay (quite inexpensive by the way): http://stores.ebay.com/FIRST-KICK-CYCLES

For riding in the EU, the Triumph pipes are probably best for you, or maybe RAASK. (I don't know how loud the RAASK ones are) Most of the pipes available from the US, Australia and NZ are so loud you will make the schupos very unhappy.
Triumph say that you don't need to rejet with their "offroad" pipes, but these bikes run so lean from the factory that it would be a good idea to change to the next size bigger main jets. In any case, you will need to readjust the idle mixture.

Greetings from sunny NRW.I`m running them at the moment untill the thunderbike shorts arrive. They`ve got louder since I fitted them and they`ve got quite a high tone which has just cost me 30 euros.Got pulled over in Soest NRW,lucky really it could have cost me 50 euros, one point and an anziege but the nice man in green likes the new speedtriple and his mates first bike was a BSA lightning,so be warned. In Bavaria they would have confiscated the bike on the spot. You can have them when the new ones arrive für einen Apfel und ein Ei.You don`t really need to rejet but I had it done anyway it seems to pull a bit better.Check out my pics because I don`t quite know how to get them onto this new system.

Tks a lot - but how can I find your pic´s? Today I´ll get the new shorties and am still not sure about what to do with the carb. Some tell me to adjust only - some advise to change the "Düsen" - Deutsch would be better for me. :-)

Danke!!! :-)) Geile Fotos! Kurzum: GEILE SACHE DAS!!!!
