I have located a standard bonneville tank for sale, so I was wondering if it will fit my Triumph Bonneville America? Has anyone done this before? I guess the only modification would be to make locating brackets to fit inside the tunnel?
TBA, Stainless extractors / drag pipes, 65mm over forward controls, Thruxton needles, 904cc, head ported, lowered 1-inch, Console removed, relocated battery box, Australia.

Ok then, thanks. Looks like some panel beating is in order to get rid of the terrible centre console.

It can be made to fit, but it takes a bit of work. The Bonneville frame is different, so the centre tunnel would have to be redone and the rear brace is shapped differently and uses 2 smaller bolts instead of one big one.

I've seen that done and it does look good, but be aware that it's some pretty complicated work as the curve of the tank is actually several complex curves. You'll also need to find someplace to mount the idiot lights.
You might find it easier putting a tank off an Adventurer or Thunderbird on it. No promises, but it's something else to look at.

The thunderbird tank has a much wider center tunnel which may make it fit easier, but I also think it may leave a big gap looking at it from the front.
Either one of those tanks would look SWEEEEET on our bikes! Not just no console, but also offset filler cap!

Do what Biker did, his looks great and has a nice little instrument gauge setup as well with nice bright (actually visible in the daytime) indicators too. Can't be hard if Ed can do it himself.

Thanks for the input guys, I think I'll do the biker option when my bike is due for a paint job......that won't be long away.
