once in a while i read a post about updating shocks. this seems like a good idea.

i have new tires and thought some new shocks would help the ride a bit.

what are the options and what is the best bang for th buck?

Progressive 440 and 412 are the most popular. I have 412 heavy duty shocks and like them enough. If I had the money at the time, I would've gone with the 440s. I noticed more of an improvement though with the Progressive fork springs, primarily because of the reduced fork dive under braking.

That could be a tough question.
Maybe a consensus here will point the way.

I wanted the best ride/handling I could come up with, along with a certain look, so got dug in pretty deep on the $ part.
Progressive 440s, bright chrome hardware kit, spring compressor, fork springs, fork level tool.
I think I accomplished the objective, but perhaps at a $ premium.
