I had traded my other cruiser in for a touring bike 4 months ago because Robin refused to ride on the p pad any more. I traded the other, even though I had quite a bit more money in it than the Triumph because since the 60's I had always wanted a Triumph Bonneville. It has been a while since I have had the Triumph out, because Robin will always want to go for a putt. Today, I had the day off and she had to work! I had forgot what a pleasure, what fun, it is to ride a bike like this! 200 miles in the twisties to Kernville and back. No other bike I have owned has as much character and class as this Triumph. This motorcycle makes me feel alive again, no need for the drugs or alcohol in my past. Just a great ride....I just had to share this with someone. Thanks, Leonard

I'm with ya there Leonard, bar none this is the best bike I have owned and I agree with your assessment. Only problem is, since owning this bike, I have become obsessed with riding like never before!

Not only is the BA/Speedy one of the best(if not THE best) handling cruisers out there(especially once you get a pair of some good aftermarket shocks bolted on 'em), but also seems to have more ground clearance than most cruisers out there today, so one can really lean these beauties over before scrapping anything.

(Which would allow one to ride those beautiful twisting roads around the picturesque Lake Isabela area in the southern Sierras just a little more "spiritedly" too...huh Leonard?!)

Cheers,
Dwight

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I bought the touring seat and my wife loves it. It's much better for 2 up riding. She doesn't ride with me that much but when she does I put the touring site on the bike. I also added Kuryakyn ISO wings for her.

Great post! You said it better than most of us but you will find very few who would not agree with you.

One of my cousins and her husband live in Bakersfield, and go riding up to Isabella Lake quite a bit on their Harley. Next time take some pics to share. It's always great seeing where other members ride.

I only had time for a short 45 minute ride yesterday due to visiting relatives and a standing rib roast I bbqed, but the weather was great here. Here's a shot of my "backyard ride" I do all the time, Saguaro West National Park that's just over the hill from our house.

Yeah but daft conversations like this would not completely hijack an innocent thread.
Not that this is daft.

Nope I only got £3500.... and so 'found' £2000 and had a good deal at the dealers. But I was paying cash... Ok the olds helped and my credit card... hence working to many hours to pay it back. The olds nearly paid back....

I'm not rich, but I could have bought any bike I wanted, if they did not make Triumphs I still be watching the other bikes go by. I have my "baby" and would not trade her for any other bike out there.

I've had a few, and most everyone was the kind that, as you walked away, you would have to look back and smile. This Triumph...as I'm walking away, I look back, smile, then stop and actually have to check out the lines of the bike, study the way the sun glints off the chrome and the way the shadows show off the parallel twin motor. What a beautiful motor! My American made cruiser had more chrome, was a great looker, but......these British made bikes have it made all over it! Just sitting still this bike is graceful and fast looking. I've often thought that the European bikes were all better designed. They never look heavy or bulky. This bike makes you just want to get on it and ride the hell out of it!
