Hey guys, stopped by Bogart Cycles in Birmingham the other day. They deal BMW's, Ducati, Triumph, and maybe even Vespa's. They had these Schuthberth helmets (I think that was the name). Holy Brains in a Bucket Batman, these were some nice lids! Running in the upper $500 range, but if you're head is smallish (they're Euro) and you're considering a Shoei or Arai, and ESPECIALLY if you want a modular give these a look. Simply the nicest modular I have ever seen. Great vents, easy on and off, and the coolest thing ever....integrated sunglasses. Like a flight helmet, you push a button on the side of the helment and a first rate sun-shield drops down inside the helmet and fits right over your eyes. Get's dark, push it again and it retracts right up into the helmet.

They say that the XXL is like a normal helmets Large so I'm out of luck, but honestly check these things out, they are unreal! IF a helmet can be worth 5 bills, this one seems to be it. Schuthberth USA

Schuberth tends to run small. I tried on an XXXL and it was WAY small. They just came out with a newer version that was going for $700 (!!!) at the BMW-Ducati store near Loveland, CO. They are quite excellent from everything I've read and would probably drop the cash if they had my size.

I would have said Pat should look at these but he only has a $20 melon!

Good link.
Over here those lids are around £600-700.
I believe Micheal Schumacher (sp?) has something to do with 'em.

I liked their 'unique' drop down smoked visor.
So unique that it's on my £150 'Caberg' that I just bought!
The Caberg also has the flip front and comes with some gizmo plate thingys that lets you take the flip front completely off, replace the side panels and use it as an open face - with or without the clear visor!
But you still have the smoked visor.
Very 'Top Gun'.

They're Italian but do an XXL which fitted my big noodle.
I have real problems getting lids to fit, so I was happy to get this one - considering 'KBC' have stopped making the only really comfortable lid I had (TK9)

Schuberth makes two modular helmets, the Concept 1 and the Concept 2 (C1, C2 repsectively now).

I own 3 of the original C1 style and have used them since '00. They are very nice helmets because of the quality and the internal sun shield. However, compared to my Arai Signet GTR, the Schuberths are heavier and noiser but only a little. They do not vent half as well as an Arai though.

I use mine especially in cool and cold weather as the chin bar has a full neck curtain and the vents are just for show.

Since the C2 is just now coming to the States, you can find some good deals on the remaining C1s. Shop around and you can find them for $250 or less. At that price they are a steal.

The C2 is said to address the noise and venting issues of the C1 but I've not tried one on yet.

Tbanga, have you checked out the AGV GT-Open. I got one after looking around and reading the reviews, and love it. Very quiet, good fit and finish, and comfortable.

Hmmm, I wonder which helmet I was looking at? I can't imagine the dealer marks them up 200%.

I can. Most dealers do. Online helmet buying is the only way to go. I find what fits at the store and then buy it online (and I've found some screaming helmet deals on eBay).

Schuberths tend to really be high here in the US due to the dollar vs. Euro problems we're having now. I've got a friend going on a tour of Italy next month with orders to be on the lookout for the new C2 at a good price.
