something that I found while searching for possible alternative starter buttons, could THIS be a good replacement starter relay? At least from the picture, it looks like it has the right prong arrangment as the OE Hella relay does. Just curious.

I could find you any number of relays that'll fit into the standard socket yet won't work. You'd need to compare a pinout of the standard one to that one's pinout. The description also sounds a lot like snake oil... a relay is a relay is a relay. Chances are if the OEM one's made by hella it's a standard fitting though, if you can find their part number have a look at their website to find it, then order it through an auto parts shop rather than the dealer and I'll bet you'll pay half the price.

Good points all. The savings wasn't necessarily the big deal, that relay is only about $12 through bikebandit. BTW, triumph does not sell starter buttons separately from the right-side switchgear panel. No biggie

What's wrong with your starter button? The wire had come off mine, and I managed to re-solder it back on.

Here's a pic of the inside of the right-hand control unit. Note that each section has a screw holding it in. I would suggest taking out the switch first and checking the mechanical/electrical functionality of it before replacing it.
