Could someone please tell me the size of the front sprocket nut so that I can get the right size before I do a chain/sprocket change out. Had a look at dinqua's web site but he does not say the size of the nut.

The front sprocket nut as per Pat's instructions is 1 7/16" and that's what I used. It comes out to 36.5mm metric. I assume it must be a 36mm. The 1 7/16" fit with no problem at all.

36mm. I found a random huge socket at the bottom of the case at Sears, had the dude open the case for me. No tag, but turned out to be 36mm, last one! Can probably find it at an autoparts place too.

If you know any heavy equipment or truck mechanics, they probably have the 1 & 7/16 socket. As the others have mentioned, they're a near perfect fit on the 36 mm nut. (If I recall, 14 or 15 mm & 9/16 are pretty close too?)

Another tip - the rear brake will hold the chain and sprocket in place while tightening or loosening the front sprocket nut.

Perhaps it goes without saying, but better to err on the side of caution -- be sure to put the tranny in neutral while loosening & tightening the nut.
