Installed the Dakota speedo, very easy install and callibration, using the pulse generator that the speedo cable fits onto. Am going to have to tilt it back a little, cos being so flat in the old tach spot, when the sun is directly overhead, it can be a little hard to read. Will work on that and let you know if I do any good. see pic here

Ah, no tach and $400+ dollars, what a shame as I really like the look. Maybe it's time to dump the tach entirely....

Where did you mount the gadget that the speedo cable attaches to? I'm looking at getting a digital gauge setup as well.

Frank They are Zodiac 6in pullback T-Bars. They feel great for me, I found I had to reach forward slightly to get the stock set up.

Hi Bluespoke, I'm really interested in the Speedo/Tach version of this product. What part number did you buy? Looks like they all start with HLY-. Their site is nice enough to post dimensions for most units. I'm a little concerned about the depth. Here's the one I'm looking at (HLY-3015): How far does your unit protrude above the console? How is it secured within the console? Does it contain the two connector "pins" as shown above? Does connecting the cabling to the pins add to the depth? Thanks for posting, Tom

Tom, I fitted the HLY3014, which is the Metric version with speed, odo, and trip only, no tach. Depth is really a non issue, as the speedo cable does not plug into the speedo head itself. You have a variety of options as to how the unit recieves speed info, and I went for the pulse generator (Dakota part # SEN1011 which the speedo cable fits onto, and sends the info to the head unit via 2 wires.) Also, I found that after flush mounting the unit, the midday sun made it quite hard to read, so I re-jigged it into the dash at a 30deg angle. This has fixed that problem significantly. new improved pic here

as the "first person in the world" (see link) to add a dakota digital speedo to our bikes, i'm impressed with the 30 degree mounting bracket. how did you do that?

Now that is very cool. Kinda 'custom' bike look.

Jethro, Checked out your link, well done. I took my speedo cable to a place that makes them, (Over here they are called Flexible Drive ) and they converted the end of my cable, to fit the sender unit with the 5/8th thread, only cost me $10. I angled the unit by cutting a 52mm pipe on a 30deg angle. Simple. Mounted right up. Reads fine, now, even in the midday sun right on it. Give it a shot, you'll be amazed at the difference.
