Yeah, 15-1600 is a bit too high, shoot for the 11-1200 range at the most. Can't help you on those CVK carbs, but there's plenty of knowledge around here that can help ya!

there is a round black knob on the left side that will control your idle, just turn it a little bit at a time and blip the throttle and youll get it.

ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

Don,
If the dealer rejetted and removed the AI, he should have also adjusted your pilot (D) screws and even synched your carbs. If he did all that and knew what he was doing then you only need to turn the black knob to set your idle... and as was mentioned, 1100-1200 is good. We are assuming you have the choke knob pushed in after the engine is warmed up.....

Grump, know anywhere to get a good reliable tach to use on our bikes (I've not bothered with the Triumph tach) for setting the idle speed (the only time I really see a need for one now that I've gotten a good feel for shift speeds)

You are viewing the left side of the bike. Find the choke and look down and to the right in this picture. Right at the bottom rear of the carb bowl you will see that black knob hanging off of the bracket that is attached to the carb bowl. It is hard to see in this picture, but you can discern it as it seems to touch a black wire/tube on top of the engine case. Right behind the chromed left cover's 'tab' I think you need to turn yours counterclockwise to drop the rpms. Not too low as you want to have adequate oil pressure at idle.

PS: When synchronizing the carbs, you will want the bike to be idling at 1500 rpms.

Moe, wont the oil pressure light come on if the bike is idleing so low that it is starving for oil?

Yeah it's fast. It's blue and it has flames.

Greg,

In a word, no.
I bought the Triumph tach, and although it probably isn't the most accurate, it is close enough.

Don,

I love a happy ending....

But how did the idle get cranked up over 1500 in the first place?, if I may ask. Hope your dealer didn't do that for you

That's what I figured. I knew Fluke Meters had one, but unfortunately, I don't have the right meter for that feature, and don't feel like spending the bucks to buy the right one. The factory option would be MUCH cheaper!!!! Thanks though.

This one could be different, but my experience with oil lights in the past has been that it is really a "trashed engine" indicator. My first experience with idiot lights was a '55 Ford 6. On a fishing trip, the bit of hex rod that drives the oil pump stripped. First, the engine started knocking. Then, maybe 1/4 mile later, the oil light came on. Fortunately, the warantee was still in effect.
