Thinking about the SS long slash cuts.....where do they stand in the sound dept.? Right now I've got stock pipes with holes drilled in the last baffle on my 02 America and would like more sound, but not crazy loud. Also, how much will the rejetting and improved air flow via Uni filter/snorkle removal change the gas mileage?

Thanks for the help, Jim

The SS's are my favorite. Not as loud as Sceptres & a little louder than Epcos. They have a throaty rumble & really roar when you crank down on it. I have gotten 50mpg when I'm taking it easy.

Someone just had a set of Long slash-cuts, brand new for $275, that's a steal. I love my long Cannons. I did rejet using the included jet kit, bike runs great.

Yep, I agree with Yota. Even with 2 baffles in each of my long cannons, I still trigger car alarms. But, my mileage has suffered, though. Must be my blippin' throttle hand, I do love the sound.

After removing the AI, installing the SS, UNI and rejetting, my mileage probably dropped about 5 mpg. It made a world of difference in performance AND sound - could care less about the mileage loss. I love the way the SS sound although I wear ear plugs on long trips. I also love the way they look, IMO, way better than stock.

I have the SS Short Slash Cuts and love them. Big performance increase and don't see a lot of decrease in gas mileage. Will be putting the Freak in as soon as it is shipped.

2004 BA, 18T, pilot screws, SS Short Slash Cut 130/45, Uni (for now), top snorkel cut, in-line fuel filter, tach.

I have the long cannons using 45's and 130's, unifilter, snorkel removed and airbox "modified" - I usually get about 45 mpg but do mostly stop-and-go riding in commuting traffic. i can get a little over 50 mpg on highway runs.

with all of that done i am somewhere in the low/mid 60's (HP) at the wheel which i believe is about 5 hp over stock since the factory hp is quoted at the crank. oh, also running 18T sprocket which probably comes into play regarding (negatively) HP and (positively) mpg. anyway I love the sound of the SS's and would recommend, especially at $275.

Well it's all pretty subjective as far as the sound goes, sounds great to one, not so much to another. Too loud, not so loud and so on and so on....
I've been wanting to change my pipes for about a year now. I have open drag pipes and have gotten many compliments on how they sounded but to me they have always been too "harsh". I spent alot of time at the rallys listening to other peoples bikes and when I heard something I liked I asked the owner what they had, there was a couple I picked out that had Bubs on them but all the rest were Specialty Spares. The long cannons were my favorite. That was what I decided on and got lucky enough to pick a set up in an Ebay auction for $240 and some change. They are in the UPS loop right now and scheduled for delivery tomorrow, I'm pretty stoked. If you go with the SS pipes I think you'll be pretty happy.... not dis'in anyone else's pipes by any means but I really think they have the nicest sound that I've heard. Nice deep mellow tone, no harshness whatsoever so you can cruise down the alley or street in the morn without whizzin' the neighbors and guaranteed to scare small animals and children if you hammer it.

(Disclaimer, I in no way condone scaring small animals and children unless either is about to run into your path or touch your stuff.)

Boy ain't that the truth. Those long tubes must create one hell of an echo chamber. Pulled mine and had the wife screaming at me and all the neighors had serious looks of concern as I rode out of our nice quiet cul-de-sac.

Now you guys are getting tempting. I've never pulled the removable baffles out of my SS long slash cuts. I guess I should try it just for yuks.

I removed a set of long slashes to install short ones (I was dragging my long one's in the turns). I like the sound of the the short one's, but I believe the long ones have a little deeper tone.

I never dragged my long Cannons until I put on a set of Hagon shocks. Swapped the Hagon's for a better set of Progressive shocks and have not had a problem since.
