I'm getting ready to do my 24,000 mile service. According to the new service intervals, 4 yrs/24,000 miles is a major service. Since I'm not even at 2 years since new, I was going to pass on the fuel line replacement, but I am going to do the fork oil and brake fluid change along with the engine oil change. I was wondering what else I should consider?

I would say check valves, new fluids everywhere, torque frame bolts, new chain/sprockets?

A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice. Pat

I had the valve adjustment done at 20,000 miles. Reason is I had it done the first time at 8,000 miles as per the old service intervals, and then waited 12,000 miles for the 2nd time due to the changes so that's why it was at 20,000. Chain and Sprockets I had done at the same time as the last valve adjustment so I'm good there. Only thing I'm thinking of adding to your list is to lube the headstock bearings. Has anybody done this? Oh, and I'll also check all the cables for wear.

How about an air filter and head light bulb if you haven't done those lately. I did the headlights on my Trophy at 24k just because - I had the fairing off and the bike all apart and I figured it only cost $20. With Murphy always lurking around I knew I'd put the whole thing back together and blow a bulb a week later.

Did the air filter at 20,000, but not the headlight bulb. I do have a spare around somewhere. Might also consider replacing the battery after reading Adey's post on the general forum. Heat is the worst thing for a battery and we have plenty of that where I live.
