I wasn't around to see my ebay auction for these Deuce type risers, and my bid got sniped. These are not countersunk in like the usual Deuce type risers in the JP Cycles catalog. I've tried searching for a pair just like them, but have come up empty so far. A longshot, but does anyone know where I might score a pair? With the countersunk Deuce risers, can you just cut off that part so they'll flush mount?

Thanks Phil. I didn't do another ebay search like I should have. I thought these were uncommon and I was going to try and find them out of a catalogue if they were available.
Now if any of you vultures are looking in...BACK OFF MY BID!

Disregard if you're already aware, but here's a neat little "Freeware" utility that allows you to be the sniper instead of the snipee ......

Actually I don't have a problem with snipers. I'm a firm believer in sticking to a price, and if I get it, I get it, and if I don't, oh well. Usually there's another auction along in short order. Sometimes I snipe, but most auctions I don't. I just put in an early bid and wait. I lose more often than not, but that keeps the wife happy. I only buy a few things off of ebay every year.

Got my risers, but I bid on the wrong ones. Ended up with the countersunk risers. Oh well, I know a machinist who said he would drill out my top yoke so they'll fit flush.

Why not grind off the countersunk part instead? Go slow and it won't muck up the chrome.

Sal don't mill out your top yoke, just have him cut and grind the countersunk part on your risers......If it's not possible to do that pm me back and let me know why. I'm buying a set myself.....Angelis

Well I've never seen a set of these in the flesh so I don't know if they mount the same way as ours. Maybe the bolt goes through the yoke and threads into the risers? But if I can cut and grind instead of countersinking into the yoke, I will look at that option. I know another member has them on his bike(trash).

Sal, I just took a hacksaw with a fine tooth blade and cut off the countersink bit off mine. Only took a few minutes and no trouble starting the retaining bolts afterward. They mount with a bolt from the bottom of the yoke as opposed to a bolt running from the top of the riser like the stock units. You do have to slightly enlarge the holes in the top yoke. But also a very easy mod. I got mine from jp cycles a good while back. Seems like they were about 60 bucks.

Thanks trash, just the kind of info I need. What are the size and length of the bolts you used?

I used 1/2" by 2" course thread stainless bolts in mine. Though some of these risers use fine thread. You have to experiment a bit with the lenght to find the right ones. As far as cables and wires everything was long enough but just so. The front brake cable when the forks are at full extension is about maxed out. But There's still slack in it even then. And I don't do wheelie's all that much. Not that I don't like doing wheelie's. Power's just lacking a bit.

Just received my risers today; I think Brent has been loaning J&P cycles the use of his time warp machine; the risers got here within two days . Now I'm off to cut and grind so I can mount them this weekend......Angelis

Got mine today too, and they didn't have the countersink on them. Only flaw is one of the handlebar clamp pieces doesn't fit flush with the riser part. Should be able to grind a bit off to get it close though. I've already drilled the bigger holes for the 1/2" x 2" bolts.
I'm still polishing the legs and waiting on my top nut for the centering stem before I put it all together and take pics. Might even powdercoat the wheels while I'm at it since I have a $100 gift certificate for powdercoating that I won on a poker run. Was thinking maybe black wheels.

Ebay, same auction as this one. Mine did come without the countersink portion, and it had the bolts to mount them, but they're too long. I bought two 1/2" x 2" stainless bolts at my local hardware store.

The 1/2" X 2" were to large for mine. I went to my tap and die set and measured the pitch and diameter. It came to 12mm x1.75. I cut the original bolts to 2" then cut threads into them, now they fit

Some pics of the risers on my bike. I've got about 200 miles with them already and I like the added comfort. It straightens me up in the saddle and my arms are more relaxed. For reference, I'm 5'11" with a 31-32" inseam. I figured it'd be better with a shot of somebody on the bike, but avert your eyes if you're sensitive to pics of ugly mugs. Also, I was using the 10 second timer with the camera propped up on one of my gloves, so the angle of the shot is slightly off. Feet on the ground. Feet on pegs, but sidestand is down.

I bought studs that are 1/2" thread on one end and 12mm on the other. Worked like a charm, and I didn't have to make any mods to the triple tree. They fit right in.

Hey Kurt,
Where did you find the 12mm to 1/2 inch conversion stud? I haven't been able to find one at either an automotive store or a hardware store ... but I figure I'm probably just not looking in the right place or asking the right question. Any suggestions?
Thanks, --Brandon

Our trees are drilled 10MM not 12MM you need the adapters that are 1/2" on one end and 10MM on the other. I think these are the right ones but would have to check to be sure it's 10MM on the small end. I called awhile ago before I machined my own and they had the correct ones I needed. adapters

Now I just feel silly ... looking for a part specifically designed to be riser adapters seems so obvious now that you've pointed me at one. If Dennis Kirk doesn't have the right piece, I see that J&P has some listed, too. Thanks!

I don't think J&P had the right ones, just 12MM or adapted the wrong way. the part with no thread and the smaller thread have to be the same. I would have to go measure again but I think the 10MM part has to be about 1 1/2" long. Over 1" anyway since the tree is 1" thick.

Finally won a set of Deuce Risers on eBay for a reasonable price, so I decided to order the riser adapters. It turns out that both J&P Cycles and Dennis Kirk are selling the same part ... a Kawasaki Riser adapter from Lightning Performance Parts. I eventually had to call Lightning directly to get the specs for the adapter. Both of the threaded parts (1/2" and 10mm) are about 1" long, and so is the unthreaded 10mm chunk in the middle.
I ended up buying a pair from Dennis Kirk, since they were a tiny bit cheaper for both the part and the shipping. Wish I had the skills to machine my own, though, since $35 for, essentially, two funny looking bolts, seems a bit steep.
That's OK though ... I'll get over it when I stop stressing my back leaning forward on long rides :-)

Thought some might this pic of mine. Lately I've been toying with the idea of America bars. Not sure though but I reckon they would really finish off that upright relaxed feel I've been after. Don't get me wrong I've got it now, but what would the Americas be like

Just happened on the same part from Parts Unlimited. It's the one for the VN800/1500.

I have the America bars with the Rivco 2" pull back risers on my 07 SM and now it is very comfortable. I am able to sit up straight and relieve the pain in my back. I did have to get the America cables also.

Thanks for your comment Joel. Whilst is seems logical the America bars would be a good option on mine, hearing that you find yours comfortable makes my decision (if I do go ahead with it one day) much more encouraging. Also I realise I will have to change cables, which is another issue again. For instance there are stores out there that do custom cables and I might look at different options there. I didn't think the America cables might fit my setup.

The America cables do fit but the throttle cables are a little tighter than I would like. When I get brave enough to remove the tank, I am going to re-route them to the other side of the frame then they should have plenty of slack.
