I've been looking through the archives to see if anyone had thought about the vintage finned header clamps. Here is a thread that talks of the merits and challenges. Overall, it appears that the new engines wouldn't allow a standard type of finned clamp to work. Of course my very next thought was maybe this would be something that could be custom made for the newer engines....Brent? In looking at my engine, it may work to have one half of the finned clamp deeper to sit further back against the engine. Found this picture on the internet... ...shows what I'm thinking. Steven

One of the things I LOVED about those on all my older Triumphs was the fact that they helped stop blueing!!! Brent, IF you don't reproduce these babies, I will!!! And I'm just to danged busy to do it!! HINT! HINT!

I never saw an older Triumph that didn't have blued headers. Like the current "Classic" models, they don't have double walled headers like the TA and SM. My '71 Triumph even with opened up megaphones and re-jeting turned blue. I didn't think much of it back then 'cause they all did it.

They all did it was just an excuse. Mine NEVER Blued! I know how and why they didn't. And I offered a PARTIAL clue here!

I had those finned clamps on my 67 Bonneville and the pipes didn't blue much. A little simichrome every month or so and they'd clean right up.

For those that want more information on the artist of the photo above, here is the Daniel Peirce website that I linked to for the photo. http://trickphotog.com/It appears that you can purchase his work via ebay. Steven

I apologize for the Hijack, but this photographer's work needs mentioning. Here's his gallery on Ebay: Daniel Peirce.... not affiliated in anyway. Regards, Tom

I remember blued pipes as being a testimony to being a rider as compared to a weekend warrior.

I have a 69 Trophy 650 with after market aluminum fins that are extra large and I never had a problem with bluing pipes, so I would have to agree that the fins definitely help dissipate the heat. I think that the fins would definitely add to our bikes. OK, so who is going to be the first to add them ? The challenge is out there.
