Progressive lists 3 shock designs that will fit our bikes. The "Cruiser Specials" are the most expensive. I am looking for opinions from people who have tried them. I don't mind spending the extra $$ if they make a noticeable difference.

Bought my 440's used. Not sure I'd pop for full price. Tons of adjustment that I'll probably never use. I keep mine on the softest setting or one ring above with the wife on board. Lots of folks seem pleased with the 412's for a lot less cash.

Bob, I have the 11.5" 412's standard. Will be replacing them with the 440's this winter. They work fine.....I was just expecting a little more than they were capable of for 2 up riding.

If you don't mind spending the extra $$, the 440s are the way to go. Fantastic shock and huge difference in handling and road feel. They also make the 418s which are heavy duty and in between the 412s and 440s. But....the 440s use the Air Inertia Ssytem which really works wonders.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

I put 440's on my '97 H-D Low Rider and they absolutely transformed the bike. They are pricey though, but I thought worth it for the Harley which really needed the upgrade. Traded in the Low Rider for an '06 Speedmaster which has better stock shocks. Can anyone tell me the stock shock length for the Speedmaster/America ? (just in case I'm tempted)

440s.
Ride is nice - you can feel them working.
I had 'em crowhop once when I hit a washboard just right,
but it was nothing scary.
Last I knew, they only listed stock height (12.5"?).
I also got the bright chrome end caps & spring compressor (shock tool).
Total tab was more than I like to think about.

Said Molly to James, that's a fine motorbike.

They come in a beautiful black chrome, that would look great on a Speedmaster (the guy who sold me my pair had them on a Speedy).
