Hi everyone. I'm new to the site and had been debating on an 06 vs. 07 America purchase. I decided to buy the 06 because I liked the spokes and the classic gray engine. being delivered tomorrow!! My questions is about the jet kit. I plan on putting D&D exhaust on the bike (unless anyone has any better suggestions) and re-jetting. How hard is it to re-jet? I'm fairly mechanically inclined but I'm afraid of getting the carbs out of sync. Can anyone give me the basic steps of re-jetting? Thanks everyone. This forum is great!!!

Hey Markk, Welcome. I have found the members here to be extremely generous with their knowledge. Here's just what you are looking for: http://www.dinqua.com/index.html
Be sure to check out the carb page. It has very careful instructions for rejetting.

I run D & D's and have found the supplied 45 pilots to be a bit rich. I stayed with the 42 pilots and went to 130 mains with 3 1/4 turns out on the air screws. I had an 05 America and used Staintunes with stock pilots and 135 mains, removed the snorkle and used 3 turns out on the air screws. The Staintunes gave me the best power increase and have a plesant sound and are Stainless Steel. Lots of riders I know swear by the Thumderbike pipes from New Zeland...they really sound great and are quality built. Of the three the D & D's are the loudest. Personally I will go to the Staintunes in the near future. Good luck.

Thanks for all of the info. The dinqua site is exactly what I was looking for. It doesn't look that hard to switch the jets, you probably just need some patience removing everything and putting it back together. One question, Will I need to sync the carbs again after I install the jet kit? Thanks

Climb into the tech vault also. There's enough info in there to keep you busy for awhile.
Welcome to the site and enjoy your putt.
F.W.I.W. - You can rejet without removing the carbs and you DO NOT have a plug blocking your D-Screw for the air mixture adjustment on an 06.

Any time you dinqua ( ) with your carbs, you should re-sync. It should be your last step.

Check this Link for instructions on how to make your own manometer and synch. Works well for a cheapskate like me.
I also suggest replacing the carb float bowl screws with stainless allen-head screws and washers, cheaply available at Home Depot or you can purchase them from many in our vendor's section.
Whatever screw route you follow, don't muscle them back in, as the housing is easy to strip.
Regards,
Tom

Do most folks take 'em out or leave 'em in? I'm just about to dive into the carbs myself.

I do both my SM and Nancys BA on the bikes. Be sure you get the bowl screws from Brent also.
