Today was my first decent ride since I rode the bike home 3 weeks ago. I pulled the snorkel out, adjusted pegs, brakes, bars, shifter, and the windshield. What a great bike.... totally exceeded my expectations! Gas mileage went from 40 to 48 with the snorkel out too. The Triumph dealer in KC is going submit a claim for a front brake rotor for me and see what happens. It is only out since August. The only problem is a rattle that I have posted about in Tech/misc...... please take a look and help me with any ideas you may have about the noise.... the only problem with a otherwise "perfect for me" Scooter. Thanks Bob
I may be on to something with the rattle.... but it's really weird. The vents on my helmet rattling in the wind.... stay tuned.

Bob, If you're referring to Engle Motors in KC, they're great. I try to go there whenever I'm up that way. Glad you're enjoying the bike.

Yep.
5 weeks of not riding one (maybe 6 feels like forever anyway...) - to get back on one yesterday was like I'd never been off one. The grin on my face even riding in the rain on the motorway.... I'm even getting back to riding for no particular reason - something I can't do on the Bandit.

Yes it is Engle Motors. Their shop is in an older part of town that used to have all the motorcycle dealers on the same street "motorcycle alley" They are the only dealer left in that part of town, and are celebrating their 50th year at that location. Pretty cool... You can just see the early Triumphs and BMW's haunting the place.
I'm sure it sounds crazy, but I saw my first America in person when I met the guy to pick mine up. I bought a one way bus ticket to get there, so there was no turning back. I had never owned a Triumph (that ran) and always wanted one. I'm 5'10" 165 and the bike fits me perfectly. I could have probably picked up a JR. Sportster for the same money, and not had to deal with a dealer 70 miles away, or having to hunt for accessories and spares, but I think it is going to be worth it

I hope you are enjoying this Forum as much as the bike, Bob.
It has become one of the best "intangibles", aside from that never-ending grin when I ride.
This is a great family of usually like-minded riders, and we all seem to rally behind one another when we need to.
A terrific resource for information about the machine, I hope you find yourself coming back here regularly just to check in and see what's happening. It's addictive!

Bob,
It's definitely worth it. I bought mine at the closest dealer to me at the time....120 miles away. The accessory part of it is sometimes discouraging when you see what the major makes have at their disposal, but the upside is having a unique bike you don't see very often.
I've had mine for over 3 years and 45,000 miles. I still catch myself staring at it sometimes when I go out to the garage.

NO way! I know about cold from going up to NC. Up at 4500' two weeks ago it was between 29 and 37 every friggin morning. A couple of the days were beautiful but I did not have enough warm gear (had all I own! ). Had to wait until 10-11 to get out. I think I'll stick to FL thank you very much!!

heh, heh, you got that right! I did plan ahead though. Had leathers, liners, thermals, face/neck warmer, extra socks. That cold get through every-friggin-thing. I'm just glad Triumph thought ahead and planned on the motors getting hot . Great place for your hands is right over the cam covers!!

It's 16 degrees (fricken F) here this morning. The bike is parked in the studio and won't come out and play. It is a good time to tear her down and adjust valves and such.
