stupid question i'm sure, but i assume the spark plug is located directly in the center of the cylinder, no? Is it offset at all or right in the middle? Just to relieve curiosity, i was thinking of indexing the plugs, but if the plug is centered it wouldn't matter.

Pretty much is centered; the plug is right in the middle of the intake valves and exhaust valves, and when I looked at the stock pistons, the valve pockets looked to be roughly equidistant to the edge of the piston crown.

Side gaping the plugs gives a nice bang at the center.
.7 gap at a 45 degree angle works great for me.

Thanks. I was researching side gapped plugs again because i saw a pic of a different way to do it so i wanted to see if i should try it. In the process i was reading about indexing and realized if the hole wasn't centered i could see how if a plug was aimed the wrong way it would be removing some of the benefits of the side gapped plugs. But if it's centered it shouldn't really make any differnce.

Is a side-gapped plug something special that you buy, or do you modify a standard spark plug? If so, how do you side gap a plug?
