I love my Gerbing gloves and would recommend them to anyone for cold weather riding (also have jacket/pants liner and socks). Never used heated grips, but I do know guys who swear by them. The grips are simpler and don't have wires dangling, but gloves warm your entire hand.

Heated grips would require wiring that I don't want to hide... I would consider those grip covers tho, being removable and all.

My opinion: Heated grips or the heated grip wraps work ok up to a point, but they're limited. On real cold mornings (down into the 20's), my fingers and the back of my hands can still get uncomfortably cold, while at the same time the palm of my hands can get uncomfortably hot (with heated grip wraps). I haven't ever tried heated gloves, but I would imagine they would be better at keeping the whole hand warm in colder weather and at higher speeds. You would have to unhook them when you get off, but that would probably only add a couple of seconds to the whole dismount process. Grip wraps work ok for me here in NC, but I would think you'd probably like heated gloves in colder places.

Heated grips would probably be a lot cheaper and the tank console on our bikes already have a good place to mount the switch. I've used heated grips with a heated vest and was oh so warm and toasty while riding in some pretty nasty weather.

On the other hand (haha) the gloves would probably do a better job of warming your entire hands and if you have more than one bike or change bikes in the future you could continue using the gloves.

later,
Hugh
