Recap for those just joing us,,
took 3 bikes to a show in TN went ot bed came out bikes and trailer were gone..
Ok get a call this morning about 10, The usual is this Mr Garlock, yes, do you live on shagbark trail, yes, did you report 3 bikes stolen, yes.. Well Mr Garlock, we are happy to tell you we have located one of your missing bike.. At this point I am like oh great please let it be the 04, I have way to much work in it for it to up and take off.. Nope it is the Big Dog.. I call my buddy who is the owner of the bike and we go to the local PD.. Bike is not there, it was seized by the NC state police after being sold to a small little dealer there. Seems this so called "dealer" was buying known stolen bikes striping them and selling parts, then junking the frames.. Good news is the bike is in perfect shape, not a single scrach on it. MY buddy is heading to NC on Monday with his paper work to pick it up.. Why he wants ot ride 450 miles on a rigid is beyond me, but best of luck to him.. As for my trailer and the 2 bikes I am missing still no news. But the NC police are still looking.

Can the NC police have "further conversation" with him about who he got the BD from? Get a bead perhaps on other chop shop garages? I know jurisdiction issues can get in the way, but really keeping after the police to do their job keeps you on thier radar screen. I'm very sorry this happened to you.

Well there is a lesson learned from this. The thief knows a good bike. You notice he kept the Triumphs and sold off the BD. Seriously, I hope you get your bikes back in one piece........Angelis

That is great news! I hope they find the other two bikes and the trailer. Have you looked on eBay for America parts being sold from NC?
I think I am going to start really looking at gettin LoJack.

The police could not tell me much more since it was the local PD that called me. But I was told there isa big stolen bike sting going on. From what the det told me there were more stolen bikes in SC last year then cars.. Seems a lot of them are found in traffic stops. I mean what kind of idiot steals a bike and goes for a ride? They are not like cars if yall are like me you can pick your bike out at a 10 miles away.
But the dealer is currently in jail for receving stolen good, and selling known stolen good and a few other charges that I am surethey are using as more of a reason to make a deal... Not sure if they got the guy or guys who sold the bike to him, of even if he is the guy who stole them. No idea on how many people are involved in this.. But hopefully my Triumphs will show up. To be honest I would be happy if the trailer showed up, I use it to make money.
Dont like what you see??? Big red X in the top right of your screen will fix it!

Well with any luck (and some decent detective work) they'll follow the trail back to your trailer and bikes...sounds like they have the needed info to trace it backwards...now if they have the inclination!

If criminals had brains they'd have real jobs. Can you say, "Lowest common denomitator?" I knew you could.

"Hmmmm......5/32 divided by 1/4 is.......hummmmm.......D*MN! I could NEVER figure this crap out! I guess I'll just go knock over a 7-11!!!!"
Naw, FJ! I know LOTS o' people who don't know their a$$ from their elbow when it comes to myriad subjects, but who would never DREAM of taking anything that doesn't belong to them.
I think people such as those who swiped Matthew's bikes and trailer were probably of at least average intelligence, BUT for some reason, were never able to grasp the basic concept of "The Golden Rule".
Which you would think a concept much more simple to master than math, wouldn't ya?
Cheers, Dwight
