I have the Triumph lightbar on my Speedmaster. I don't like leaning forward to turn it on/off. I also want an indicator that it is on or off.
What would be perfect wound be a switch I could install in the nice plastic dash on the tank! It even has a couple of rubber plugs I could remove...
Does anyone know of a switch that would work?
It would need to be water-proof, handle the amps, and indicate via an led if it was on or off.
Thanks!
Roy

There's not a lot of room for a switch body, but here's one that fits http://www.bonnevilleamerica.com/forums/...part=1&vc=1You coud place the switch on the right of the console, and an indicator LED on the left of the console, in the empty holes.

Get the switch that LJ3000 pointed you at. I've got one running my hazard lights, works fine and is weatherproof. You'll still need the relay that comes with the lights as any switch capable of safely handling the light's current is going to be way too big for the console.
If you want an LED in the other hole as an indicator you'll also need a "current limiting resistor" so it doesn't blow the first time you use it. YOu can get little black "clips" to hold the LED in place. You could possibly replace the provided switch with an illuminated one, but I don't know of any that are weatherproof.
You'll also want to find some sort of weatherproof connector for the wire run to the console so you can disconnect the switch to remove the console when you're taking off your tank. It only needs to be a 2 pin connector, any half decent auto parts shop should be able to sell you something appropriate, or you could just use male & female spade lugs and just attach them backwards to one of the wires so you can't connect the wires the wrong way round.

I have the switch from member SRS to turn on ond off my triumph light bar and for $20.00 US it is well worth it. PM SRS for information on buying the switch and switch cover.

Stewart (SRS) has a website with lots of cool stuff on it. That switch assembly isn't actually on it yet (coz I've been too busy/lazy to write that page up for him ) but if you wanna have a look-see it's www.srschrome.co.nrOh FYI he mentioned to me when I was riding with him last sunday that he and his lady are off to Vietnam for a couple of weeks soonish, so if he doesn't reply he's not ignoring you.

You can take the switch off the light bar and use it. Just put a rubber plug into the hole that's left behind. Buy a rubber switch boot (a buck or so)at a local marine or heavy equipment supply store and install it on the left side of the console. You will have to drill the hole out just a little bit to make it fit. I wired the switch off the high beam indicator so the lightbar only comes on with the highbeams. Since it's always on with the highbeams I didn't worry about a separate indicator. Plus it's right there on the console so it's easy to see.

I never turn them off - I was thinking about removing the switch. I want as much attention as possible. I usually leave the lights on high beam as well. If they are pissed at me - they see me.
Women and cats will do as they please. Men and dogs should just get used to that fact and relax

I like having the option of shutting them off, even though I rarely do. By having them on only with the highbeams I can set them up for max visablitiy during the day and illumination at night but still not blind oncoming traffic at night. Plus, if I ever have electrical woes I can shut them off to minimize current draw.

Both Ron (fishercat) and myself have switches (from Ace hardware) on our "dash" and they have little rubber boots (also a Ace item) they work just fine...I might think you could relocate the Lightbar switch from the side of the shell to the dash also...I think it's small enough...we used the left hand "knock out" on the dash...had to increase the hole size slightly...but its plastic and moves real easy
