Had the opportunity to sit on a brand new 2007 Caspian Blue Sprint ST today. Wow! It is a beautiful bike. Dealer started it for me, and the sound was magnificent for a stock bike. Riding position is more upright, as advertised, over 2006 which is a big plus for me.
Now I have a decision to make. I have spoken with Ade (a Sprint owner) and several others about this, and I am still torn. I cannot keep two bikes, and selling the America will be difficult to near impossible. It will also signify changing from my cruiser world to the urban touring world. Out the door with trade for under $10k. What to do. Would my ba.com family disown me?
Anyway, just passing along that the new Sprint is gorgeous, brilliant, and everything else positive that you have heard.

Ner ner, told you so Pity you can't keep the two bikes. Well I'd still speak to you mate! With the gel seat, the ST is a seriously comfy bike .. though I never tried it with a standard seat, I must admit. Will you get chance to ride one? The decision will be even more difficult for you when you do Hang on!! My dealer says they don't get '07 bikes until December - and they're only 30 miles from the factory!!!

This is the World Center of Racing. We also have a 2007 Tiger, and a pearl white 2007 triple. The rest will trickle in after December.
The stock seat was surprisingly comfy. Much better than the plywood Daytona 675 seat, but I would still get the gel. I still haven't gotten the nerve yet to release my beautiful America. What is the song, "Torn Between Two Lovers"?

I thought that when I sat on it but after riding one for over an hour (a dealer bribe because I was being d!cked around at the ST 1st service) it's really quite comfy!!
I wouldn't have the bike if you gave it me, but the seat was quite good.

Don't worry Ryan! Whatever's left o' ya after Phil...er...God, I guess, drops that there piana on top o' you, I'll let cha in through the side door.
Buts I gots ta warn ya dude....the Sprint IS great for distance stuff, if that's what you're gonna be doin' most of, but the BA, at least to my way o' thinkin', would still be a better all-round medium-to-short distance/commuter bike.(lower center-of-gravity)
Whatever you decide, you're still gonna be ridin' Hinckley's best, so ya won't be "wrong" any way ya go here, my friend.
Cheers,
Dwight
(and if you're tired of middle-aged dudes walkin' up to ya and wanting to tell you about THEIR old Triumph-owning days, the Sprint may be the way to go then too...in their minds, "those there plastic crotch-rockety things don't look like a Triumph", ya know)

I get people looking the bike over whether I'm on the America or the ST. Probably more with the America, admittedly. Then again, I didn't buy any bike that was to please others. If what you're saying is correct Dwight, then it must just be my natural charm, charisma and good looks that draws 'em!

I went to a RAT meet tonight and a guy who rides with us works at the factory.
Apparently, the UK '07 ST will be the same riding position as the '06 ... the higher bars will only be available as an option!!!!!

What dealer did you go to? I thought Daytona didn't have a Triumph dealer, with the closes one being in Orlando.
I love the look of the Sprint and have been wanting to test drive one myself, but haven't due to a deep fear that I will like it why too much.

i test drove an older sprint a while ago. i didn't mind the crouch so much but my head was just hanging out there in the jet-stream. do the new ones offer any more wind protection?

The new ones are supposed to have a taller windscreen as part of the fairing. Really should make for a more relaxed touring ride.

I don't notice that at all.
I'm 6'1" and only noticed real buffetting over 130.
I gave up at 151 because I wasn't lying on the tank like I should've. Doh!
Of course, this was on a private test facility and nowhere near the M1 ........

Gee Adey...from all those reports you "limeys" keep sendin' to us here "colonials" about all the "Big Brother/Eye-In-The-Sky" surveilance systems installed all over on that there little island o' yours, I'm a little surprised that you could find a stretch o' road where you could attain that rate o' speed without later receiving a summons to appear before your local magistrate!!!! I'm guessin' that new "thinner profile" o' yours must be more "stealthy", OR that the new Sprints are usin' some o' that there B-2 bomber technology. Which IS it, DUDE??? Cheers, Dwight

Howdy Tom! We have a brand new Arlen Ness/Triumph/Ducati dealership in Ormond Beach. They have a few of the very hard to find right now 2007 Triumphs in stock. More are on the way. They do not have any 2007 America, Speedmaster, or Rocket models. Those probably will not show until December.
The 2007 does have a higher windscreen than the 2006 and a more upright riding position due to the rise in the bars (yank model only I see).
Since Triumph will not be doing any demo's for Biketoberfest, this will delay my decision. The dealership is awaiting an insurance policy to allow demo's directly from the dealer, but they are not expected to have it in time for the event.
The GM at the dealership had a Sprint a few years back and loved it. His only complaint was that he unwittingly tended to go a little fast on the Sprint. Ade, you listening?

I'll have to check the new dealer out. It will give me a good reason to ride up there the first part of November.
I was at the new HD during Biketoberfest last year and man was that place a complete zoo. Partly because they were still building things and mostly because everyone and their brother wanted to check the new place out.
I love the looks of the Sprint, but I also really like the Tiger. Not really sure why, but I really want to test ride one someday.

The new Tiger is supposed to be pretty good - using the 1050cc engine would probably help. Though it was quick bike before.
IMO, the new front end gets the ST-look ... a little.

The old Tiger was pretty nice. The seating position was perfect for me (6'-3"). If they morphed the ST and the Tiger - I would have one in my garage. The protection of the full fairing on the ST and the seating position of the Tiger would be fine! The NEW TROPHY. Hey, who started that rumour?!

To go back to the original intent of the post - YES, The Caspian Sprint ST is an AWESOME bike and I want one so bad that my teeth hurt. It is the ultimate in touring with roots in racing. That's just one bad-a$$ bike!

Actually, with a good wind screen and floor boards , I think the TBA is an exceedingly capable tourer, every day, trip/vacation bike. I have thought of selling my Trophy and getting another TBA and set it up for two with all the touring gizmo's ...keeping the custom TBA as the "flash" bike....ST's are cool but as far a capability,,,,TBA...but don't let that stop you from a new bike if you WANT one...I have been drooling on the new ST's since they came out.

Too bad I haven't been able to secure a demo ride. I can't justify buying one without a serious shakedown, because I have never owned that type of bike. I also have some medical issues that I need to make sure the Sprint will not aggravate (neck, shoulder, and knee issues from 15 years of competitive football(English style ).
It is gorgeous, and so is my TBA!

I read someplace that Triumph did not fix the super-heated seat issues. That is a problem in Florida.
Both of my contacts at the new Daytona dealership have quit. Thus, I have not secured a demo. However, I did just read on the Triumph site that they are bringing the demo truck to Speedweeks a full month prior to Bike Week!
I am having a difficult time seriously contemplating parting with the America.
My wife is completely and totally against me purchasing another bike. However, she will receive a Christmas present that may temporarily change her thinking or at the very least blind her.
We'll see. Will have to be a very special demo ride whenever it happens.

I have had two shoulder surgeries (wrestling/grappling related injuries) and 5 minutes into my demo ride could not wait to get back on my SM. I can see why others like the bike, but years of grappling have ruled any bike with a forward lean out of consideration.
Postitives about the bike: 1) engine is VERY responsive. 2) Very agile bike. Would be great in urban traffic and a blast in the twisties
Negatives: 1) the lean. My shoulders just could nto take it. Maybe another 6-12 more months of healing from my latest surgery will fix it and i'll try again.
my 2 cents.

Thinking of buying the sprint 2007 model myself and i have a few questions.
Can a helmet fit in the side panniers which come free with the bike if not where on the bike can you fit an aftermarket helmet lock (if there is such a thing) because it apears that there is no helmet lock fitted standard.

I don't see how a helmet would fit in the panniers. They are fairly narrow. Might want to surf around Rat Net and see what the Sprint owners there have to say.

Local dealer has an ABS one in black. The black has metallic sparkle in the paint. Wish he hadn't shown it to me...can't afford it right now.

Test rode a 2006 with the handlebar risers, Sargent seat, tank pad, and longer windscreen. What a great bike. Beautiful engine with plenty of power and torque in all gears. However, as I suspected, the aggressive riding position did aggravate my cervical spine issues (too many headers from my futbol days). Also, as reported, it did feel like a hairdryer was blowing on my right leg from the exhaust. I'll be interested in seeing if they fixed this issue for 2007. I don't see me spending the money for a second ride, but it was great fun. Wish it was more comfortable for me.
