My, new to me, 2004 has a huge speedo error. 8 mph too fast. Does anyone else have this problem, and is there anything that can be done about it? The odometer is ok so it is in the speedo and not a tire size problem.

Pretty much all motorcycle speedos are off. I've learned to mentally correct the numbers. Not that I AM mentally correct!!!

Manufacturers of cars and motorcycles calibrate speedos to show speedos reading too high.

I suspect it's partly to do with manufacturing processes (very accurate speedos would probably be expensive to mass produce) but also to cover themselves so no one can sue them for breaking the speed limit.

8 mph is enough to trigger speed cameras.
