Donnington services - M1 J24 - 7:15 ish
I'll be parked in front of the entrance, on the pavement, next to the 'phone boxes.
So you don't miss me, I'll carry a copy of the Times and have a red carnation in my left lapel ...

We will be there. Better do some weight training if it's the Sunday Times - have you seen how much there is of that paper! Pity the poor Sunday paperboys

Ok, so here is the Itinery, so speak now or else hold your peace:- M55 Kirkham Turn off - 9am Knott End (Local bike meet on) will probably miss this out though. Glasson Dock(Ade fancies young girls bacon and Egg Barms ) The Bridge (Kirby Lonsdale) Windermere Ambleside Langdale Wrynose Pass Hardknott Pass Broughton in Furness Grizebeck Lindale Heaversham Beetham Finally jumping on the M6 at Junction 35 We can stop wherever you fancy for lunch, if we get lost I will have my maps with me. It is a long time since I ventured into the heart of Lake District National Park Wrynose Pass I have put this route through AutoRoute and it says about 4 hours if we take in Knott End and Glasson Dock, so we should have plenty of time to natter (Ade) and stop and have a descent lunch. Your comments always appreciated - NOT

No doubt Rod, when Greg gets back, and tells everyone how nice it was there should be a sequel sometime in the future. I know we seem to take the Lake District National Park for granted with it being relatively on our doorsteps. The scenery alone is breathtaking, not taking into account the nice BENDY roads
Another good ride is the one Adey and I did to the Hartside Cafe via Gretna Green, a full days riding taking in the Kirkstone Pass, but a fantastic day that was for the "Great North Air Ambulance...

Hey, all Sarah had to do was sit there for 12 1/2 hours - I had to ride the bike Seriously though, she's never been afraid to try new things, and does well for a 12 year old. Thanks for your comments, and I'll pass them on. Only one photo with all 4 riders; My favourite, although I'm sure Sarah would want me to point out that she doesn't fill the clothes she's wearing - she's borrowed her Mum's jacket and trousers And who could resist a chip bun from here? Very nice to meet you all again, and thanks to Ray for showing us around.

Hey Rod That road where Grzegorz took the pic of the four of us can't be described ... it's gotta be ridden.
If only the bloody sheep would keep off the road!
My plan is to nick some 'road closed' signs and put 'em all along the road at junctions so there are no other vehicles there and blat up and down until I run out of gas!! Who's with me ........... ?
It's already possible to take quite a few corners on the wrong side (except when overtaking a numpty who drifts over to get you into the ditch - he did it to me and then to Ray a few minutes later!!), but with the road shut off ... riding nirvana mate - get well soon and join in the fun!
By the way, PM me to let me know which soundtrack you're thinking of?

Hiya Simon Glad to hear you both got back ok. I enjoyed today, if only they'd put a few interesting bits on the motorway, it wouldn't have been too bad. Still, Grzegorz was entertaining on the overtaking so that made up for some of it Just yanking your chain Grzegorz Good to meet Sarah, she's a real trooper. Even when she fell asleep. Don't suppose I 'did' countryside when I was 12 either A good day guys, thanks for that.

Plenty of (push)bikes out today as well. I even bumped into a couple of MTBers at the cafe in Hawes who I know vaguely via a MTB website - I'd been out riding with them in the Peak District on a large group ride about 4 years ago What we need to do is to come up with a practical bike carrier for the motorbike, then we could combine the two activities

Yes this is something I have given some thought to. I ride the America down to Bournemouth regularly and there is a MTB club I ride out with in the New Forest. So if I ride the America down (whoo) I cannot MTB. Go in the car (boring) then I can MTB. Going to start work on the bike bike rack now.
Just ride the dam bike!

I was overtaking anything?
You should see me when I was alone on my way down to Leicester no less than 90(toilet needed)

Hey Simon. I took a look at your home web page. Yes bike obsessed! I have recently cut down from seven bikes to six. Well it’s a start! (note to wife!) Audax bike. Mountain bike. Winter bike. Tandem. Bike that steers the wrong way (lets not go their) America! No wonder I don’t have time to ride O and I would quite like one of those Giant TCR’s

There's a recognised formula for the ideal number of bikes to own; n + 1, where n = the number of bikes you already own I no longer have all the ones on the site, current stable is: Inbred (singlespeed MTB) Pompino (singlespeed / fixed road) Thorn Raven (hub geared road) Omega (geared MTB) Dahon (folder) And the Rocket of course I've just ordered a geared Inbred frame. No idea what I'm going to build it up with, but I think one or two of the above may have to go to make way for it
