Well, we just got in these new hard saddlebags. And thanks to my homeboy JL, they've been tested and photographed. They are top of the line in every way. The carpeted lining, built in LED turn signals, quality lock, etc. make these bags just about the best thing out there (IMO) for these bikes. MORE INFO HERE -brent

Look good. How much weight do they add?

Without unboxing and weighing a set, I'd guess the whole setup weighs around 20lbs.

Can you still use a luggage rack and/or sissy bar with those bags mounted?

Curious about the mounting hardware/EZ bracket compatibility? Aside from the obvious space the brackets would add.

Brent is like crack for Triumph owners. Cut it out! I got a mortgage. A kid who needs to go to college someday. Just stop it now, dammit!

What he said.
I'm trying to figure out how to hide a pair of those beauties without discovery from the residential comptroller. Damned if they wouldn't look juuuuuust right on a big ol' black Speedmaster, with a set of straight pipes with a down slash maybe 3 or 4 inches out the back? Have mercy!
Let's see how this flies:
"I can't order the big bore kit unless I get the hard bags too?"
Nah.

Actually the manufacturer offers color matched painting. I'm sure Brent could hook you up for an additional fee.....

I'm sure you could use them with easy brackets. You might want to add a bit more material to the mounting plates for additional rigidity to the backs of the bags.

Right you are, Nate Dog. While we stock only black, We can have them painted any color you like, or you can get them in primer for your own paint.

Brent - I have been patiently waiting for an update on these very cool bags.... A few questions: Are they hard mounted, meaning no quick removal? Second, on a road trip with extra luggage sticking over the bags, I presume there is no way to open the bags since they hinge staight up?

Hey Jeff. You're right, the bags are hard mounted so there's no quick release. They hinge up so any items laid over the top will need to be removed to access the bags.

Might require a few mods and/or fabrication, but I'm sure it's possible. What's the mounting hardware like?

Hardware and wiring is included in the kit. The laydown tag mount is a Rivco product.

I'd defimnitly be interested but only if my tall Triumph sissy bar/luggage rack can be assimilated without great cost.
Those would look great on a shiny jet black speedie.

I'm sure you could, they just might not sit quite as close to the fender.

My question to you Brent is, "Even though I have the Luggage Rack/Backrest on my America do you think using the EZ Brackets would work to make the new hard luggage both mountable and removable? I just ordered some EZ brackets from you.

I certainly don't see why not. You could mount the hard bags to the EB mounts, no? A larger plate might be needed to support the larger bags but that'd be about it.
I apologize that I don't have a definitive answer but there are a bunch of variables here.

I'm going to chime in with my two cents here. I'm thinking about buying the Tsukayu bags to replace my monster HD bags. I think the former looks better and the latter aren't weatherproof by any stretch (and my "custom" brackets are HEAVY). I've got the factory sissybar and I'm not about to use easybrackets. I'd rather use some washers under the forward Tsukayu bracket to bring it out even with the rear one that bolts through the sissybar mounting bracket. I'd be happy to try it out for ya Brent and report back. That is if you want to send me some Tsukayu bags for testing purposes. I'll even pony up for shipping.

I think you could make anything work, it is just the combination of sissy bar and EZ brackets are going to space the bags out away from the fender. The EZ brackets themselves add a solid 1.5" of space. Just the nature of the beast...

Brent, Friar will just abuse them, believe me I know the guy . You can send them here if you're in a pinch. Not much serious highway miles till March-April I'm afraid however.

Did you wire up the signals on the bags as well? Do the pumpkins get in the way of the locks? Is there room in the front for the passenger to use the pegs?
I'm full of questions

I don't have the bags. I'm just trying, quite unsuccessfully, to finagle a set out of Brent. If I did I probably would eliminate my stock turn signals and run the wires to the bags.

Yes, due to one of the far too numerous short circuits in my brain, I realized far too late that you were replying to freedom. Silly me.
