Years ago in college I scared my girlfriend (now wife) so bad on the back of my '73 T140v that she has refused to ride with me. Said I "leaned" to much. Yesterday, some 2 decades later, she stopped me whilst mowing the yard...I said I'll start up the grill..she said, no, i think we should ride to "Paneras" . Wow, I about fell off the mower. Went pretty good except, 1) Her helmet kept hitting mine when i shifted. I didn't dare try to instruct her. 2) Woke up to ride to work this morning (80F!!! in Cincinnati) and my battery was drained. I left the ignition key on since I guess I wasn't used to getting 2 riders off the bike. So, I will patiently wait for her to decide if she wants to ride again (the Triumph). And yes, I envy those of you whose wifes love riding. Not that I'd trade or anything like that ya know.

You've really messed up now. I can hardly sneak out the yard with out mine running after me helmet in hand. Tried everything to shake her. Even took her up to 110. Only thing she said was ,(what was that all about). Nuttin honey just thought i'd blow the carbon out.

the only way i can leave the yard without my wife on the back is to sneak out when shes not home.I've scared her more than once, even dumped it once with her on back nothing i do can keeps her from wanting to ride.
Am I bragging or complaining? not sure myself.

Rarely ever get my wife to ride and when I do it is white knuckle all the way! Took her up to get gas in the bike the other night, got up to 35 MPH and she acted like I was in the Grand Prix or something! Guess it just isn't her thing!

QUICK!! THROW HER THE KEYS, SIGN HER UP FOR A RIDERS COURSE, Then quietly, whilst whistling and strollin, scoot on down and get a R 3! then say something (In a very serious and calm tone with proper faceials added) "But Honey, after all these years I thought that was what you wanted!" PS If it works let me know! I could then throw the keys to the Speedmaster to Nancy!!

"Panera". I liked it better when they called themselves the St Louis Bread Company. It had a nice flow to it. Panera sounds so...so..., well,....nevermind.

Then that means I would have 2 bikes. Sounds like a great deal to me. I really enjoy riding my own bike, I get a little nervous now when I ride on the back. Even though I trust Privateers abilities to ride 2 up.

I've had two bikes for years now. Well my lady had a real bad accident on a Honda CB450 back in the 1970s. Skin grafts, reconstruction surgery, etc. Never rode since.
One day she agreed to let me take her on my Harley Ultra out for ice cream... "Only four easy, slow miles."
We had several little discussions over the years about proper riding/safety gear, role of a passenger, etc. We went fairly slow and that ride went well.
After a year of once or twice a month out-and-backs up to 50 miles or so she signed up for the MSF Basic Rider course. Passed that just fine except her bad knee "went out" on her several times. She really can't shift safely and reliably with an undependable knee.
So a month ago we bought her a 2007 Suzuki Burgman 400 scooter. Yeah, I know its not a "true" motorcycle but we ride together, she can get that Blue Bomb up over 75mph and she is no longer afraid to ride out on her own.
Key thing here? Slow and easy, let her approach it at her own speed and most important - we're riding TOGETHER! Might not be cool. Might not be elegant, but its fine with me.

my wife rides maybe once a month on the back of my voyager-- radio, backrest, armrests...
then she bought a convertable, so she rides even less now.
every time we go out it rains, the wind is over 35 mph-- there some near accident.
i'd like her to ride with me on the speedy more but i need to get a sissy bar.

You can get little electric do-hickeys that put a solenoid on the shift and "up and down" buttons on the bars to do electricly operated shifts on "real" bikes... might be an option for her if she wants to trade up.

got home from the fire station today and my girlfriend was waiting in the drive way to hit the road. had to run to texas to get megamillion tickets (just checked and i hit it big, Brent what can i get for $3). She loves riding with me and never complains if we get caught in the rain. which has happened more than once. When i buy one of those new Tigers I am going to put her on the speedmaster.
