Dasco,
It was Dwight.
He posted this on August 25 on the "Rumor about the 1500cc engine" thread.

Here's another one.....
I've heard(can't divulge...have ta kill ya, and all that rot) that Triumph is in the final test stages of a...get this...AIR/OIL COOLED Triple, that looks very similar to a Bonneville's engine, at approximately a 1200cc displacement.
A new Trident, possibly?
Dwight
(I ain't kiddin' here....and the source is very reliable...and no, it ain't Mr.Presley or our big-footed friend either)

Well, after a chat with someone that actually went to the meetings in Florida and has seen the rumored bike. triple it aint. Look for a 1500 to 1600 cc vertical twin. Oh say about maybe November 2007 time frame. Possible price around $11,000 to start. Sounds like style very much like the America/Speedmaster.

Well, if I may confuse matters even more, I had a chat with the national distributor for Triumph in Greece on Monday afternoon. He was at the dealer meeting in England over 2 weeks ago and he told me that they (Triumph) are talking about both a twin AND a triple in the 1500cc range. He couldn't tell me more but he implied that I should expect a mid-summer 2007 launch date ... which would coincide with commencement of sales in November, Let's see.

HHMMMM sounds very interesting. The only one that my Dealer has actually seen was the Twin. He said power output was really good and said that it will definately be in the right price range compared to the competition. Heck, I be that the harley dealers are cringing just at the fact of a $1000 price decrease in the rocket, say nothing about the possibility of a low priced bigh twin cruiser coming out from Triumph.

then maybe they will drop their prices to reflect what you actually get, not what you think you get..... PR is a great thing, and they are masters

Perhaps it was the European distributors meeting or something and not dealers as such. All I know is that a whole team from the local national distributors (and not local dealers) went to England for their bi-annual meeting (one in September and one in March ... I think).

Whatever comes out in 2007, im sure it will bear the Triumph Logo, if it be 1500cc triple or Twin, im sure we will all have our own comments to add good or bad

The US dealer meeting was in Florida almost 2 weeks ago. That is where my dealer got all his info.

Screw it, if enough of us go in to the dealers and put a deposit down on a 1500-1600cc Speedy/BA styled cruiser they have to make us one!

That timeframe will be just about right for me. My America should be around 15,000 miles by then and ready to trade!
