Ouch !

So sorry and sad about the bump, but so glad that you're here and able to tell us about it.

What's the ROSPA safety moto ? "Speed Kills" ? Yeah Right !!

They must be talking about dope - the one behind the steering wheel !

So much for the advertising campagn to look out for bikes.

excuse the pun, but I hope everything comes together quickly and you're back on the black stuff soon.

Glad to hear you'll be ok and getting back on the horse!

Greetings, Ms. G,

If I may so bold as to offer a suggestion...

If/should the insurance company and the dealer agree that the bike is a total washout, do please consider offering the insurance company a couple of pounds for your bike's seat. Its already broken in to your shape (to some extent) and if you get another bike you can then just replace the replacement seat with your old friend. That assumes your old seat is worth retaining and you get the same model bike.

Saves on a lot of BadButt soreness.

Glad you are okay.

Hey all.
Just walked back from the dealer. There's a good thing and a bad thing going on...

The bad bit: There's a possibility that it could be a writeoff. They're not sure but the frame could be bent. Just 2 weeks after having the feckin 12000 mile service done too. The acting workshop manager may authorise an hour for someone to strip it and find out one way or the other.

Ok there's two good bits.
1) They are lending me 'my' Thruxton to go to the rally this weekend, but don't tell everyone....
2) They have an shiney new 06 America upstairs on the sales floor. I've told the Triumph sales geezer not to sell it. I've asked him his best price which was list with £500 accessories, but I don't need them. So he might be able to knock £500 off list... which if I get a good amount from their insurance...and is what mine is insured for.
Would just have to swap the tank (I really like the black and silver) and yeah...I'd change the seat!

Just wouldn't be the bike I fell in love with... but not saying I wouldn't grow to love it...

Gina there is a stunning 54 plate speedmaster in the edinburgh triumph dealers at the moment.....only trouble is the price they want for it.

Seriously ask about getting the bike back as there are loads of firms that specialise in frame straightening, with it being a steel tube frame its not that hard to get it fixed, and stripping it down over the winter would be a decent wee project.

hmmm funny line to follow

Ok....so I've just picked up the Thruxton (again...) and getting on that has to be the scariest thing since picking up my America. And that was 5 minutes after getting back from passing my test.
I took the long way home, so instead of 3/4 mile, I took 4 miles. Once out there, I took it steady, but made it home in one piece. But the first time after an accident has to be the worst.... we'll see. I have to go over the other side of the city later, and I'll see how I feel after that.

Did a bit of other shopping as only a woman can...but didn't really buy any thing. And went home.

Gina? (so glad you're OK and I can relate to that first ride after you've been down) but was it the coffee that was so expensive OR that bit of "other" shopping that was so dear?

Glad you are back in the saddle. How do you like the Thuxton btw?

I've ridden this Thruxton that often....it's like a friend. I used it when I had the airbox repairs, the service, when I had the coil replaced. It's done around 2200 miles now - I've put on over half of them.
Done 20 miles today, and I'm glad to be back on two wheels....even if I am still a little sore...

I'm probably getting a VFR800 on Monday...I'm not looking forward to that!

Gina, that is bad news. Went out to see my bike after I read the news and I feel for ya. I couldn't imagine being without her. I hope it all works out for you in the end.

Gina, having dealt with two insurance write off's the insurance assesor estimated the damage, made me an offer and asked if I wanted to keep the wrecks. The first (Suzuki Sv650) they let me have for £100 which they deducted from the the settlement, and we declined the second (Suzuki GSXR 600) because we didn't have the storage space.

The Suzuki SV650s would have cost about £800 to repair (DIY) but we never got round to it, so we sold it as it was for £300.

I suggest that if you get the oportunity to get yours do it - even if it's just for the saddle and airbox !!!

Best of luck...

Is it a 600cc or the 1200cc. And why are you hating it. I've never ridden the 600 but the 1200 is a blast.

600.... I've never riden anything like it. My learner bike was a cruiser. I'm not good on it and it goes too fast. And it's not my bike, or a Triumph. It's just me being a typical female and being picky.

I always found the hardest thing to get used to on the Four Cylinders is how buzzy they feel. Like all bikes they all have their own characteristics. Once you get used to it i bet you start to enjoy it. Admittedly it feels different to a Triumph twin, but after a few days and a few more miles i bet you will be zinging that thing up to the red zone.

I often miss the thrill of hitting the power band on a multi cylinder jap bike. Stick with it, it will get better.

And here I was thinking starbucks. Turns out it was dumb ******. you qualify for a broken wing patch now. Thank goodness you are OK.

Quote:

By the old time traditions, large patches go on the back. Club patch (if any) goes highest on the back. If there is room and club tradition permits, a bike related patch below. If you are qualified, a broken wing patch at the bottom back. If not, an unbroken wing patch at the bottom is just fine. Smaller bike, run and association patches go on the front and sleaves. Memorial patches go on the sides and front about the level of a broken wing patch.
