I had an absolute blast riding down to Hollywood today. I left around 4:30 am and was on I-95 south by 4:45. I mostly exceeded the speed limit on the way down because there was very little traffic in the very early a.m. I hit a little fog for a while but mostly kept it to between 70 and 90mph. It was nice and cool, and the bike ran like a top. The traffic coming back was another story. Ft. Lauderdale creates alot of traffic, and to make matters worse, lane resurfacing is happening. Add to this the fact that no one wants to slow down for the conditions so there is lots of in and out movement with all the "fast and furious" set. I generally don't like to travel the interstate but I needed to get home in time to pick my son up at the daycare so I had to play the lane hopping game with everyone else. I only saw one or two other bikes on the road and they were going south so I pretty much had the road to myself except for the thousands of cagers around me. I was very impressed with the fact that the bike handled the speed so well. I varied between 70 and 95 most of the way back and had no trouble passing when I wanted to or staying with the traffic flow. I have decided that for future highway travel it would be good to have a windshield, but I want one I can take off easily when I want to. All in all, it was a good day and I made it back alive!

I'd rather be driving in the country, or along the beach, but I have to admit, I kind of got off on the speed and the craziness of so much traffic moving along so quickly. Even the heat didn't get to me (or maybe it did) Anyway, it was surprisingly fun.
