anyone know the correct # for a speedmaster rear sprocket form any of the manufacturers that mawonline carries? I ordered a JT and they sent a sprocket that doesn't fit. So i need to exchange it for another. They gave me the part# so i don't trust them since they already made one mistake. I tried and for the life of me i cannot find the correct number for the JT or any of the other sprockets maw carries. I don't care which brand as long as you know the part # for my '05 speedy is right and it's a brand maw carries. Oh, and it must be steel, not aluminum. Thanks.

Geez......i just found out that MAW did NOT send me the wrong sprocket number. JT sprockets has the # i have listed for my bike ! I went to thier site and it shows the JTR1792 as the sprocket for the 05 speedmaster. And the one i got sure enough says JTR1792 right on the sprocket, but the holes are way different than mine. So JTR has a mistake on thier site. So if the problem i'm having IS due to the old sprocket being bent or out of round as i suspect, then i spent both days all day this weekend trying a hundred things and removing my wheel numerous times all for nothing. I am very pissed !

Chains can wear unevenly and have tight spots in them as you rotate the rear wheel. This sounds like the problem you are trying to resolve, have you checked your chain length compressed and stretched in a few spots?

I thought it was the chain too, but i put a new chain and same thing. I believe it IS the sprocket.

Triumph uses SUNSTAR sprockets fore and aft. You can order sunstar from any bike shop. its a 42 tooth. if maw wont refrund you, then get a credit and save it for something else.

Sunstar apparently doesn't offer that sprocket. I already tried them. Often a manufacturer will not sell OEM parts for obvious reasons. If they made a specified part for perticular bike manufacturer they will not sell it to retial customers either directly or via rtialers. Only to the manufacturer so HE can make the profits on it. It's common. Now if it's a sprocket that they already had in thier catalog BEFORE triumph began using it, thats a different story. But i would bet in some cases a bike manufacturer will have a part made to thier uniqe specs in order to have a monopoly on the parts, and i bet thats the case here. They could have made the rear hub to accept any number of common sprocket patterns, but they chose one no other bike uses. I think the reason is obvious.

Hey Daz,
Been tracking this thread so that I can order the right Sprockets to carry for you guys. You are right on Sunstar, I contacted their office today to get the numbers because they were not showing for my supplier. And Sunstar said, they make and ONLY sell them to Triumph and no one else.
JT is one of the brands I can get once the numbers are nailed down. I am trying to nail down specific items in a number of areas for our rides.
